On October 18, 2013 my little girl Sarah Michelle decided to join our family! She's a big girl at 7lbs 6oz, 21" tall and, so far, it looks like she will have sandy blonde hair like her mom! And in the closest-birthday-in-the-family contest we have a winner with Cydne's little girl Madeline who joined us the very next day, October 19th! She's got dark brown hair and is a healthy 6lbs 14oz, 19" tall and Cyd came though it all just fine! She had a long labor (about 12 hours) but did really great! We're both trading off on the baby duties at night so each of us can get at least 6 hours sleep in a row and that really helps!!!
Steve was home for the births and he stayed the weekend but has had to go back to work now.
Sorry I haven't been on here for a while but I have had other things going on and I've also had some very mean hate mail that just had me not feeling so good about posting too much anymore.
I just need to clarify a couple things here for the haters:
1. I NEVER ask anyone for money, gifts, or whatever aside from asking people to give to real charities. It's also a little scary and sometimes creepy if someone goes all Private Detective and learns where we live and sends me things. Please don't do that!
2. I don't recruit people. Evangelism is not my thing and I am not a very good Christian and would not want to be responsible for leading anyone into the faith. That's not something I feel called to do.
3. YES!! I am asking people to accept poly!!! So long as it is a free choice between consenting adults then what business is it of anyone else's? Is it too much to ask for the same rights as gays have? Me personally I am not even asking for legal marriage, just the right to be left alone.
4. I am not perfect. I am not a role model. I sometimes screw up as a mom and I sometimes screw up as a wife and a friend.
5. I have a bad memory. I swear some of you know more details about me than I do sometimes! Don't get wrong, I appreciate that some people follow this blog and that's really sweet, but it's not like a Bible to me or anything. I write down what is on my mind at the time and I go on. Sometimes I change my mind on things and sometimes I get new information on stuff I've written about and I change what I say about it. If you're wrong about something and someone corrects you do you keep saying the same stuff just to be consistent? I don't.
'Nuff said.
Moving on....
Christie is working again and is traveling a lot. She wanted a break from having babies and figured she should work. Macy is trying again for a 2nd baby and we're all very happy for her about this choice! She has had a long time to heal from losing Rebecca and is ready to try again.
Hannah has been accepted to a private college and will start attending in the spring. We're VERY happy for her and hope she really enjoys school! She will be staying at the school and this will be a big deal for her since it is the first time she will be away from home and family in her whole life!
I'm down to about 70 chickens now. The egg business went way down on me and I had to give up a lot of my hens to the butcher in town. It's a business, I know, but it's hard not to love them all and miss them.
We had our first snow already. Not too bad where we live but South Dakota got hit really bad and a lot of ranchers lost an awful lot of cattle. I keep hearing maybe as many as 100,000 cattle died. It's really serious and some ranchers are asking people to donate cattle to help them get their herds back up. We don't have the cattle to spare since we sold off most of them a while back and started running bison. Upside of bison is they don't care about blizzards.
The park closure at Yellowstone gave us a problem when National Park Service police tried to 'close' part of our ranch. They ended up having to check their maps and the signs on their own fences to realize that our land is not their land. Those people really are (forgive me) assholes. I hope they stay in the park after this. Honestly, the way they acted with us gave me a bad feeling about the park. I used to love going their and now I feel like it's someone's private club and we're not invited. I don't think I want to go their for a while.
I am going to stop here for now just because things are busy and this is probably enough for right now.
I hope all of you are doing well!
Megan
Congrats on your new baby! And BOO on the haters!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sooo happy for you and Cydne. Wow! A day apart! That is so cool.
ReplyDeleteDon't let the Na-Sayers get to you. Just remember they are all progressives and do not tolerate any other opinion but their collective own. The only way they can try to control you is by degrading what you believe or love or the way you choose to live. They do not like people who think for themselves. So they try to intimidate you into their way of thinking. Stand your ground girl! All of you clasp hands and stand your ground.
Love you and am so happy you have found yourself and your niche in life.

Megan,
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving us an update. Blogs are weird things. Almost everyone I know that maintains a blog says that they get a lot of hate mail. I imagine that the experience of getting it is upsetting, and I can undestand why at a certain point you must wonder, 'why bother.'
Cmpdom67, you described these people, and described their thoughts, belief, and choices. So I guess you must know them personally.
Blogs do seem to run a certain course, and I've felt for a long time that you've lost interest. When the day comes that you decide to quit the blog, I hope you'll come and say goodbye and not just fold it up without a word!
Many thanks.
Congratulations Megan! Steve certainly is a very lucky man that he gets to make babies with you and enjoy the privilege of your company! No doubt before the end of the year you two will be back at it and working on your sixth baby! Can't wait to hear the good news!
ReplyDeleteAs to the people who write hate mail to you Helene is spot on saying that it's par for the course with being on the internet. I've actually managed to collect a genuine jihadi death threat from some fucked up member of the moon-god worshipping 'Religion of Peace' over on my own pathetic little blog.
People like that are detestable little worms whose one singular consistency is that they are always cowards when they don't have the upper hand. They slink around in the shadows of anonymity to vent the hate at others that they actually hold for themselves.
I think that's why suicide bombings are so popular in Islam. These people hate their lives and they try to blame their misgivings on others instead of facing up to the fact that they're fucked up because of their own choices and because of their inescapable religion. Thus murdering others while committing suicide is an attractive way for them to strike at their imagined oppressors while, most importantly, seeking the cold embrace of a Death that is far more preferable to the empty, meaningless, and hopeless promises of Islam.
And, but of course, there's also the Western breed of sweaty, overweight turds who live in mom's basement and whose only power in life comes from directing their hatred at you instead of just leaving you the fuck alone. These little worms are even more detestable than the Muslim jihadis because at least the jihadis have an arguable reason of sorts for their actions. The Western worms don't even have that much so they write hate mail to a young woman they pretend to know and then they get some sort of pseudo-sexual satisfaction from doing so. This is likely the high point of their lives because no one likes them, no one loves them, and the only way they can impact another human being is negatively.
Don't let these worthless and pathetic worms grind you down! PITY THEM and thank your God that you're not like them!
You're doing fine, Megan!

NOTE: Someone keeps linking a profile from some dating site on here. It is my picture but it is not me. This is not the first time someone has done this. I have sent a email asking for that profile to be deleted. Thanks for letting me know about it!
ReplyDelete'Grats on the new baby Megan!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear from you! I can only imagine how busy you've been, but it's always nice to see an update.
ReplyDeleteIs Steve working in the oil and gas business? I think you mentioned this before, but I can't recall this at the moment. I know I mentioned to you that oil and gas is booming in the U.S. right now, and especially in your neck of the woods. The industry is also expected to grow by leaps and bounds, so it could be an exciting time for you and your family.
Congratulations on the baby Megan.
ReplyDeleteI think we all realize lives change and although your followers love to read your posts, you DO have a busy life.
I just wanted to say, in case you stop blogging, Thank You, from one woman to another. I have REALLY enjoyed peeking into your life-I've been reading your blog since 2009, and I think it's really valuable that you have done this...maybe you will be able to leave it up, for people to read.
What you are doing with your family is not easy, and certainly not popular, but it takes a strong person, an unselfish person, and I think the rewards, if it's working, are huge. I WISH that people in America would think again about living in extended families-of whatever sort.
Polygamy doesn't have to be about creepy cult leaders or male domination, nor does it even have to be about religion, but I think it creates a sisterhood that is rare and valuable.
Again, I just REALLY wanted to thank you, person to person for sharing your thoughts and journey. I admire your path.
I hope some day you and Steve will write a book, about how his group came about (that was a very interesting story) and about how your family got where it is. Since the Browns and Dargers have written books, I think there would be a market for one.
It's SO important for people to understand that polygamy can work!
Blessings on your journey and your family!
Isabel
