It is been a while since I've been on here and I guess it's time to tell you what what all is going on in life. The big news is that all three of us are pregnant! Macy and I are due around the end of August and Christie is due around the end of September maybe first of October. It is going to be a very difficult summer with all three of us out of action. We have Hannah at the the house still but I just can't imagine her doing all the work that's going to need to be done while the three of us are in the late stages of pregnancy. We'll probably have to get some help from someone at the church or we might have to hire somebody. We'll see.

The men are still working in North Dakota and they're doing really well. Steve found an apartment for him and Tab so they got out of the container they were living in. Oh and when I say container it's more like a motorhome than just a plain container. They had heat and electricity and a bathroom and all that. Fortunately it hasn't been a very cold winter, we were expecting it to be really really cold for them especially in North Dakota and it's actually been kind of mild.

Christie is home from traveling and she has been doing taxes lately. It's that time of year for her. So while she is at home we still don't get to see her an awful lot because she is so busy. We also get a lot of phone calls when she's working and that's kind of weird having the phone ringing all the time.

My babies are doing great! Laura is talking and she won't shut up! Which makes her just like her mom! Patty is doing pretty good too and she is in full on toddler mode. She gets kind of moody sometimes but mostly she's really happy and very active. She loves to be physical with all the animals and she likes to tell me all about all the animals that are coming by the ranch. We have a fox that comes around sometimes and we feed it cat food. Patty wants to treat it like a cat and she really wants to pet it and she always gets mad when I don't let her. The fox seems nice enough but they do carry rabies and even though there's no rabies around here we have to be careful. I hate to admit but I've pet the fox a few times. Laura is my little inside girl and she is not much for being outside the house. In some ways that's good because she's really fair skinned like her mother is and would easily get sunburned. Danny is a typical boy and he is doing well. He says a few words here and there but is mostly quiet and he likes to play with his toys. Kind of like his father!

The church is doing okay. A few of the families have had to dip into the welfare fund because they were out of work and they had a hard time. Praise God, no one is on welfare. We have had a lot of people in the shelter in Denver and in December there was a big call for extra blankets and jackets and clothes. We sent what we could from the house but I really wish we could've done more. It's so sad to hear about people who are out on the street and homeless and then I think about the fact that I could easily be one of them right now if my life had gone just a little bit differently. I am very, very blessed. Right now I think most people are blessed just to have a job, a home, and food on their table. It is really scary how many people in America right now do not have all of these things. What is even scarier is how many of those people are just normal people! They are not the kind of people you would expect to be out on the street begging for food or extra money.

Where our family is getting our finances in order there is a little bit of pressure in the church for us to take on a fourth wife. I now understand what Shari went through having to deal with a third and a fourth wife in such a short time. I like our life the way it is right now and I know it is selfish but I don't want to share our home with someone else. Two other families in the church recently went poly and added second wives. The one lady has two little girls and she was unmarried and the daddy of the little girls was messed up in drugs and he got killed in some drug deal. The other girl was fresh out of foster care and turned 18 and they kicked her out so she was homeless and ended up at the shelter in Denver. Now she has a family. I know all of this is not perfect but where would these people be if they couldn't find a family? And that makes me feel like a hypocrite because the same kind of charity that brought me into this family is the same kind of charity I don't want to share. Pretty bad I know. I do know that as long as Steve is working out of town we are definitely not adding anyone to the family but then on the other side of that the money he makes working out of town makes it easier to add someone. I just don't know what the right answer is here.

Cooking. I need a different subject!

I have really dug into my cooking and have had some fun. Over the weekend I made a beef Wellington but instead of beef I used bison. Bison is a lot leaner than beef and it has a stronger taste. The result was a very nice dinner and we also had leftovers for Sunday. I am also playing with bread and I made a three grain raisin bread yesterday and it came out really good. The recipe needs a little more tweaking because it is really dense and I would like to make it a little more airy. I made a pumpernickel about a month ago and it went really well with soup and I know I will try that again. Most mornings right now I am making sweet rolls and I put cinnamon or jam on them and serve them that way. Sometimes I just put butter on them too.

I discovered tea! Christie brought home some Tetley's tea from England and she made me try it and I am really liking it! It is really smooth and it does not have a lot of acid in it like most tea does. Most tea upsets my stomach but this does not. Yes, I like peppermint tea but that isn't really tea like what most people talk about.

There was no snow for the holidays so I did not work at the resort and I kind of missed having some adult time away from the house. The money would've been nice too. I just like having my own money to spend instead of using family money. I am hoping with the storm coming in right now that we get enough snow that the resort can open and we can start getting some snowmobile people in. Then maybe I can get some work.

Well, I guess that's enough for right now. I mean I don't know what else to say so I think I will wrap this up and hope that everybody has a Happy New Year and that 2012 is a much better year for all of you than 2011 was!

Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope your Thanksgiving went very well our Thanksgiving went really nice too. I am trying out this software called Dragon that lets you talk and type at the same time and this is what I talk like!

I decided to stop taking anonymous comments on the blog here because the anonymous comments are usually just mean. So if you're registered and you can put your name to your post go ahead and post whatever you want I don't really care. It's just sort of like vandalism to have people come in and post things on here that are just mean and you don't know who they are.

To answer one of the questions that got posted there is no one pregnant in the house right now. Christie and Macy both miscarried their last two babies and Stevie gave birth to her new baby on Monday night. In the family tradition she gave birth to a little girl who came a little early but is healthy and weighs 6 1/2 pounds. Her name is Elizabeth and she is a very happy little girl!

Steve and Tab have been working in North Dakota the last month or so working in the oil industry. There's a lot of construction and roadbuilding needed for all these oil platforms that are being built so that is keeping the men very busy and out of the house most of the time. The last time they were here was Thanksgiving and we haven't seen them since. The house is been really quiet without them here but on the other side of things the house is very very clean and I have been getting a lot of sleep! Yay!Christie is gone right now too doing her job and were not exactly sure when she will be done with it.

The family is doing really good. Things are very cold outside and were all very happy to get back indoors after all the chores are done. The chickens are in the barn for the winter and very happy. I am actually getting little chicks right now and finding them in the weirdest places in the barn. Right now I think we have about 25 chicks.

This weekend and the next two weekends I'll be working at the resort cooking. I'm pretty happy about it. I get to get out for a while two nights a week and I get to make some money of my own and it is really nice to have conversations with people about things other than chores, babies, and married life. So back at the end of the summer when I was cooking at the resort I was mostly a sous chef and now this time I'm going to be doing pastries. I hate to admit it but I really love pastries! My hips hate to admit it too!

Did anybody try the raisin spice cake? I'd really like to know what you thought of it. For me it's one of my favorite recipes because it just takes one pan and then one cooking pan to make it and then everyone really likes it and it gets eaten pretty quick.

With my free time at night I finished five quilts and I'm giving four away as Christmas presents and then one of them sold at our church Christmas bazaar this last Sunday. It was a silent auction and my quilt sold for $120! I think it was the best compliment I have had all year long. In other news a Japanese newspaper sent a reporter over and he interviewed a few of the families in the church. We were told that our lifestyle is a big deal in Japan. The reporter was pretty honest with us and he said that a lot of families in Japan are polygamist but they do it in secret. Sort of. A husband will have his regular wife and family and then he might have another woman and her family on the side and this is considered pretty normal in Japan. Some men even have two extra women that they are supporting on the side. The thing that is really unusual to the Japanese is that for us the man and the women all live in the same house and some people in Japan are starting to want to do this too. I don't know if anybody in Japan reads my blog but if you do the article is supposed to be out in the next week or so and it will talk about us living in Wyoming. I guess it is okay to say that we live in Wyoming now since the Japanese newspaper knows this too.

My cousin Marcia was out here to visit a couple weeks ago and she had a really nice time. Was nice to see her and she had a lot of fun seeing the different families and we did a lot of horse riding together. No, she is not interested in the lifestyle but is going to be going to college next fall after she graduates high school.

I guess this is a lot to write for right now and I am going to go. Where I am not getting a lot of time lately this might be my last post before Christmas so I am wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy new year!

Hey there. It has been a while since my last post. I didn't post anything last month part because it was really busy and then part because there wasn't really much to say.

The change in the weather is really nice. We had a hot and humid summer and with it being cool now it is so wonderful to go outside and not sweat all over the place. Hate to say but I sweat like a guy sometimes and it is not pretty! It has been nice having the fire going again and sitting around and talking.

One of my friends from the resort that I met over the summer joined the church on Sunday and that was awesome. There had not been a new member for a while so this was like a little party. Speaking of the resort they called me this morning to ask if I would work during the holidays and maybe into the spring and I said I would. Be nice to have the extra money and maybe get some nice presents for Christmas.

I found an old recipe in Steve's mom's recipe box and it was pretty good. It is called "Raisin Spice Cake" and it really is awesome and I don't even like raisins!

Raisin Spice Cake

2 cups seedless raisins
2 1/4 cups water
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
2 egss, beaten
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground clove
2 tsp all spice
2 tsp nutmeg (optional because it gives some people heartburn)
3 1/2 cups of flour. (Whole wheat unbleached flour works really well with this recipe.)
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda

Combine the raisins, spices, and water and simmer to a light boil and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add oil, then the sugar, and then the eggs followed by the salt and baking soda. Sift in the flour and stir until smooth.

Pour the mixture into a greased 13x9 glass pan.

Bake at 375F in a regular oven or at 350F in a convection oven for around 35-40 minutes (check it at around 30 minutes).

It is awesome when it is hot but after it cools you can dust it with powdered sugar just to make it look nice. I also tried serving it with a Lemon-Brandy sauce and that worked out really well, too.

I got to admit I like this recipe because it gives a great smell to the house! I know I say to simmer it 15 minutes but I like to go 30 and add another 1/4 cup of water just so I can enjoy the smell! It is like a nice potpourri!

Time away from this was nice. The moderation on comments got turned back on. It is funny the questions from the one person about my personal stuff wasn't mean like the one comment I deleted. Someone told me in an email that some people are braver on the internet than in real life and you can see it here sometimes when people post stuff they would never say to you in person.

There is another post about patriarchal crap and it is funny the person wrote about me having three husbands. I have been on email with someone who is writing a story with a woman who has more than one husband and I guess if you can have a man with three wives then I guess a woman can have three husbands. Why not?

If we were talking about gay polygamy or whatever you would call it then I don't think anyone would care. Like if five gay men or five lesbian women lived as a family would they get in trouble or would anyone who reads this blog care about it? I don't think so. I also don't think anyone would care if a woman lived with three men and had their kids. Maybe she could also call all of them her husbands.

With our situation the thing is that women from inside the church have a choice about what they do and not all of them marry and have kids. Most families in the church are a man and a woman and maybe 1/3 of them are poly families. It is expensive to be poly and you have to do a lot of things first before the church approves of your being a poly family. That means you need to be married for a while, have kids of your own, and be totally debt free and not many people can do all of that.

Women from outside the church, like me, accept the patriarchy and the Providentialism as part of our lives because this life is better than what we left behind. All of the women I know who joined the church left something worse behind them and this can be VERY hard to take sometimes but it is still soooo much better than being homeless, abused, around drugs and alcohol, single mom no one wants to date, and more.

Here I go with this:

I know I have a lot of friends on line and some of them know this but not all.

When I was sixteen my father was out of prison on parole and he was way into meth and I was seriously hoping the probation officers would test him and send him back to jail but he was always sober when they showed up and they did not test him so that didn't happen. One time my mom was out of the house and he was doing a lot of meth and he raped me. He got more prison time for that and then he died and now I finally feel safer.

It left me seriously messed up and my mom was not a lot of help because she was doing meth too. She is off it now and is starting a new life but the two years between when I was raped and when I married into my family she was all about the pipe. College was not going to happen and getting a job in Sacramento and getting a place of my own was not going to happen.

When I was 17 it got into my head that I wanted a baby and I wanted a baby bad. Yeah, I know all the psychological stuff about wanting a baby to love and being emotionally f*cked up and it was all true for me. I knew it at the time that I was messed up but that changed nothing. I also knew I wanted a safe place to be in and I wanted to be with people who already had a safe home. When Christie invited me to visit I cried the first time when I left because what they had was such a dream to me.

But why didn't I just marry a guy my age? Guys my age are addicted to their phones and their video games the same way my parents were into meth. I don't know ANY guys under 30 who have it together in any way and I was not going to wait until I was 30 to start a life when I needed a life at 18. So I married Steve and my family and I accepted the sex and the patriarchy as part of what I chose to do all on my own because even with the things that are hard this is still almost a dream compared to what I left behind.

You know the biggest change for me? I live in a house that is CLEAN. No dirty clothes on the floor, no trash piled up and stinking, no dirty dishes caked with goo, and no one on meth stealing everything that is worth anything so they can have their white dragon. We have some drama here but we NEVER have the probation officers busting in at 3am to do a check, we never have the police just messing with us because they know we are trouble, we don't go from one apartment to another because my mom or dad smoked the rent money and we got evicted again. I am not sleeping on my cousins couch. Or in the car.

I came to this wanting a safe place and I wanted babies and I have both. It is not a big fantasy land because all of that came with something too. The safe place and clean house takes a LOT of hard work and that is part of why I am not on the net a lot. Christie is working again and she is not even home right now. Steve and Tab are gone on work. Me and Macy and Hannah are doing everything at home right now and it is a lot of work. Having my babies meant being with Steve and he is a WONDERFUL man and he tries his best with me and he has been patient with me when it is the right thing and he has not been patient with me at time when that was the right thing too. He knows about my past and he has done what he thought was right and I look back and I think it was all fine because things are turning out pretty good.

He knew what was best for me and I was forced to trust him if I wanted to stay and things turned out pretty good I think. I know that is called patriarchal but is that wrong? It is hard to let someone else make your important choices for you but if they make better choices for you than you know you can make yourself then isn't that a good thing? I think it is.

I was up last night and saw a TV show about models in New York city and all the hard things they do. My life is a lot easier than that! And the men in the fashion business use them like toys and go on to the next girl. THAT is abusive patriarchal(ism?) to me! Poly is easy compared to being a model in New York.

I don't think this would work for most women and I REALLY don't think this kind of poly would work for most men. Most guys my age will never know what it is like to own a car or a house or be debt free. Most of them live with their parents.

I liked a comedian we saw on TV and he said people my age are stupid with the cell phones. He said he looks at kids and they all look like a monkey at the zoo with a nut! I like that but I think they look like squirrels with a nut.

What I mean is that where I am is where I needed to be two years ago. It is where I need to be now. It is not always easy but it is better than the other choices I had back then.

Been working at a restaurant in town the past few Friday and Saturday nights and it has been nice to get out. They just need extra help until Labor Day and then after that I will go back to working when they cater or have parties. I love my family but getting to talk to people about things like movies and college and the news instead of babies and livestock and all has been nice.

Just some things on my mind.

The girls are both walking now. Patty runs but Laura is walking and that is a relief because she was kind of slow on that compared to Patty.

Danny is doing great and has had no breathing problems, thank you Jesus.

Christie, Macy, and myself are all not pregnant still and it has been kind of nice to just have each other's company and all be able to do stuff at the same time. There has been a LOT of swimming with the heat and humidity. Not as bad as it has been like a week or so back, but it has still been really hot and humid compared to California. I miss Cali for the weather but not the people.

I picked up a summer job as a sous chef at a hotel in town for Friday and Saturday nights and I started last weekend. It was pretty easy stuff with just simple gravies and sauces and I added in a couple reductions I can do and they went over well. I'm going to see if they will let me try out my sourdough. I did a starter on the sourdough in October and I played with it and got it going pretty good. It makes a pretty nice baguette and if you go with rolls they end up pretty light. Saturday night I did popovers with the rolls and they were pretty popular too.

We did an interview. Steve got a call from a guy with a Japanese newspaper called Sankei Shimbun and he asked to come visit and he did not bring a camera or anything. He was very polite and says he just wanted to meet us for background on Christian poly families. He said that people in Japan are very interested in this and he was pretty cool saying that a lot of people in Japan are poly but they don't say it out loud. Like a man will have a wife and a family and then have a mistress and a family with her, too. He says there are people in Japan who want to be more open about things and if Americans can do it then maybe they can too.

Haven't seen any wolves all summer but the coyotes are coming around a lot to see if they can get at the chickens. We also had a fox come around and it was not doing anything aggressive it was just curious so we let it alone and now it comes around some days and just looks at us. We say hi and sometimes it sits down and keeps looking.

We had a pair of Cardinals around for a few days. The male is really pretty! They're kind of unusual around here but we have been told they come around when it is really hot where they normally live.

I got the Lord of the Rings movies on Blue ray and just have to find time to watch them.

My friend Lydia is doing really good with her first pregnancy. She's been sick a little but not too bad. Macy lent her a couple dresses since they are about the same size and Macy isn't using them right now.

There's a coyote outside yipping. I never get bored with that kind of thing!

It is late and that is about all for now.

I will still do questions if anyone cares and I also owe some people some e-mails, especially Alice. I will try to get to them soon!

Things are going okay right now. We lost some cattle in the heat and I lost about 20 of my chickens. That was pretty hard.

It was bad but I left it there because it was true that I am whiny. Promise I'll try to work on that. If I knew how to edit that thing down I would but I will just leave it.

We got HBO for free last weekend and recorded the last part of Big Love. I never watched a lot of that show but the end was bad. Why kill the husband off? It just seemed wrong and then over someone's grass. Does anyone else think they had way to much drama on that show and that no one who is actually poly is anything like that?

Things are okay here and I hope you all are doing good too.

It's been a while since I posted a long post and I had a chance so here goes.

Danny the new baby is doing fine now and he's breathing good without the humidifier on all the time and that's a good thing because my room was pretty gross on the warm nights. He's gaining weight now and that is a relief. Someone mentioned maybe he is allergic to cow milk and he is not getting any cow milk yet.

My girls are both talking now but Patty started first and she's even saying small things like "Want water" "want cookie" and stuff like that.

Steve is doing really good with his work and he says it is the summer time and it's always easy to get work in the summer. Tab is with him working and they get along and are friends anymore. I think Steve likes having Tab around and thinks of him like a son in a way.

Tab and Stevie haven't had any kids yet but she says she is going to be happy to be a mom when the time comes.

Christie and Macy and their kids are doing good, too. What's funny right now is that none of us are pregnant for the first time in a long time. It would be nice to be that way for a while so we could enjoy the summer. I had a small glass of wine on the 4th and it was really nice because it made me feel kind of normal to be able to have a glass of wine and not be the pregnant girl who can't have any.

My bringing up the quiverfull thing caused some problems. It was not because I was arguing about it it was just I wanted to know more about it. It also makes me a little mad that this is what it is but no one wants to call it quiverfull and no one really wants to talk about it but then it is so big a deal. Christie calls it the elephant in the room.

I will deal with it but it is just wrong to me that the truth is not something you're supposed to talk about.

My friend Lydia is pregnant and seems pretty happy about it. She's like me the first time knowing that the baby changes everything and some of your choices go away when you find out you're pregnant. Up until that happens you can think that you can change your mind if you want but after that your responsibilities really change.

I added to my chickens and we made part of the barn into a hen house. I'm not sure exactly how many we have now but we all think it is around 350 chickens now. Every morning I am getting about eight to twelve dozen eggs and the money is starting to help out a lot.

Hi,
Daniel is doing good. We had him to see the pediatrician and things are doing good. He's 10 pounds 4 ounces and the doctor said that was a little slow for gaining weight but it should get better when we stop the caffeine. I really thank everyone for the prayers!

I had an older lady Donna visit today and we were talking about the church and how things are and we were talking about Providence and it is something I hear sometimes. So I asked if Providence meant something more to the church and she got into how it has everything to do with why there's no birth control. I did some reading and found out it is called Providentialism and it is also known as Quiverfull.

This came up on here a long time ago and back then I didn't know a lot about the church so I said it wasn't us. I am wrong and I apologize to anyone who had me tell them we were not Quiverfull. They don't use that word but it is still the same thing if you ask me.

It's weird because living it seems pretty normal but when you have a name for it then it starts to sound sort of strange.

It is something to think about.

Forgive me if I make this short. Daniel was born almost four weeks early and he is having problems with breathing. It is better now but at first we had to have him with a humidifier and a machine to blow air up his nose all the time and now he can come out of his room more often. He should be okay after a while but it has been really hard for a while because he was doing a lot of apnea at first and it scared the hell out of everyone. We had to work to get him breathing a few times and he is on caffeine drops to help for now. The pediatrician says he should be okay in another month so we just need to get through this.

A prayer would be nice if you do that!

Daniel Paul - June 8th, 2011

Wednesday afternoon at 1:13pm Mountain Time we got to see Daniel Paul for the very first time! He's nine pounds and ten ounces and 22 inches long and he's noisy and waves his arms a lot.

Labor started around midnight on Tuesday and we called the midwife about 2am. We did it at home this time and it was so much nicer than at the hospital. The labor was 13 hours but once the birth started it went pretty quick and it was really pretty easy this time. Right after he was born there was a little excitement because I did some bleeding but then it ended. The OB today says I am fine and not to worry about it.

I would write more but it is late and I am seriously needing some sleep. I owe emails to Alice and Charity and a shout out to DT but it will have to wait, okay?

Why poly?

I was on IM with a friend last night and we were discussing why I did poly and my feelings with my father dying and all. I've always said that part of the thing for me was having other women around but last night it came out of me that the big reason poly appeals to me over a traditional relationship of husband & wife is because I am afraid to be alone with a man.

Steve is wonderful and I love him for himself and two years into this I could live alone with him and the babies if I had to. But I don't think I'd want to. Maybe that's part of why the jealousy thing is not that big a deal for me?

Having Christie and Macy (and Shari) to lean on and have as friends and family in the house has been very important to me. Without Christie to talk to I may have left early on and not because of anything Steve did, but just because of lingering fears in me.

My friend on IM says this was the best decision I could have made for myself and I questioned that quite a bit. But as I think about it, this was the best thing for me. I needed a situation that allowed me to be happy as a mom and to feel love and that allowed me to grow into being a wife with a healthier feeling about affection.

Is it for everyone? Of course not. But it is for me.

Sorry it took me so long to do this. Things have been busy, I'm not so happy sitting in this chair for too long, and I hate to say but the internet has not been so important to me lately. Kind of funny that real life is getting in the way of my computer time! Most people complain it is the other way around!

I saw the OB today and she says I am due any time now. She says another couple weeks might be good but that the baby seems fine and he's a good size even if he comes right now. The first time I did this I was so happy to have it over with but this time it's been so easy and comfortable that I've been enjoying it and I am going to miss being pregnant when the time comes. I know my little boy will be wonderful but there's this amazing thing about always having someone right with you all the time. Like that is news to some of you, I know, but it is new to me.

Carlee is trying for another baby again and I am hoping she has an easy time.

We're having some serious drama with Lauren and I am asking for prayer in that situation.

Stevie and Tab are doing good. Tab is working with Steve a lot and there is more work coming for the summer so things look pretty good that way.

Christie and Macy and their kids are doing good. So far neither of them is expecting yet but give it time and we know things will work out.

Patty and Laura are my blessings! Patty is starting to walk around on her own from like one wall to another and we're trying to get Laura to stand up on her own. She can stand a little but only if you're holding on to her.

I owe you all some answers so here we go:

Charmed asked if Tab's name was short for anything and it is just his nickname.

She also asked how Shari was doing and I think she is okay from what I hear. She moved to a new apartment in Seattle in a place called Capital Hill and it sounds nice.

M.Lynn asked some things: What are some differences (good or bad or just different) that you see between the last church community you were in CA and where you are now? Are both church fellowships connected to each other or completely independent and different styles, doctrine, etc?

So my old church got together once a month and it was like a picnic and all day long and it was like a family reunion each time. The new church meets every Sunday and it is nice but I kind of miss having church less but then having it more intense when we did do it. Things are less strict here and that is part because no one really watches us all that much. You get left alone here. So like we dress modest when we're out but it's okay to wear jeans and all or even shorts in the summer just not Daisy Dukes or lowriders is all.

Are you in touch at all with your mom since moving out of state? How do you feel that relationship has changed as you have settled into the family?

I talk to my mom on the phone enough. She has a boyfriend and he sounds nice and is nice to me when I call so I'm happy for her. With my dad gone I'm hoping she can start over and have some happiness. My relationship with her changed when I moved in with my family and for a while it got worse and then I got pregnant and I think she accepted things more at that point when she saw that I was serious about my family and my family was serious about me. I look back and I can see how important getting pregnant can be to making you part of a family. It's like instant roots.

What are things your family does for fun?

Horse riding and riding ATV's is a lot of fun and we also go to Yellowstone and Salt Lake City sometimes but then it is just Sundays when all of us go somewhere together. It just gets too much attention to go out like that. I do quilts and I did a chicken quilt and I will post the picture here. Quilting is kind of relaxing and I am enjoying doing it.

Do you think your family has settled for the long haul in the area you are at now or do you anticipate moving often?

Do you spend much time with the women in other families at your church or is most of your time focused with specifically your family?

Yes, I do. My two best friends from church anymore are Carlee and Lydia and we spend a lot of time together. Carlee is over here a lot and after the baby comes I plan on being over to help with her garden this summer.

and this might be too personal so just let me know---how do you work through/what do you talk to yourself about and think through when you are needing time with your hubby and he is with another wife and you feel jealous? do you have difficulty by like visioning their relationship or do you just train your mind to not think about the relationship your hubby shares with the other wives?

I'd be lying if I said it never bothers me that he is intimate with someone else but then I love the someone else he is with so that makes it easier. It is strange to get used to the thought that we share him but then sometimes that makes us closer. Like I have two friends to talk to about some very personal things and they totally understand what I'm saying and I totally understand it when it's one of them saying things like that. Being so close like this makes us all family and there are times when you see what we have as being family and so much more than just friends. I mean it is hard to have a jealousy in your heart for someone who loves your babies.

Are there times where your hubby confuses wives names?

Yes.

Isa asked about water and where we are we have rights to the ground water and we can let the cattle drink the creek water but we're not allowed to put in a dam or anything. Other weird thing is we can't use rain barrels off the roof because people downstream own that water. So we have a cistern. Weird thing is a rain barrel is illegal but a cistern is okay. And we have no water meters.

An anonymous person asked about our dinner table and we have two of them now. It's the best way to feed everyone at the same time.

Marcus asked what made my father a monster and I had over a month to think about answering that question. He took away my teenage years is what he did. He was selfish and on drugs and his love for his drugs mattered more than anything and in the end of it I gave up dances and dates and proms and yearbooks and just waited to be 18 so I could leave my old life and start a new one.

I watched the end of Oprah yesterday and the part where she had the scene from The Color Purple was really powerful. When Whoopi Goldberg said to Danny Glover that thing about how everything he had done to her he had already done to himself it just planted like a seed with me. It's been on my mind and maybe that's what got me to write in this blog finally.

By killing the child I once was my father killed any chance he could have had at being a decent person. There's no curse I could have prayed on him any worse than what he already did to himself.

I know it is not very Christian but I cannot bring myself to pray for him.

I found out earlier tonight that my father is dead. He died in prison after getting cancer. He was a monster in my life and I am glad that he is dead so I don't ever have to worry about him in my life ever again. My life was pretty normal until he messed it up.

I know I have some responses to do but I am not thinking of those things right now. I am sorry.

The Up Late Update

I can't sleep. I am guessing it is the pregnancy thing or something. I'm totally wide awake.

I haven't really posted a lot in a while so this is a good time for it.

The best thing lately is Patty is walking. She started standing at around nine months and now at almost 1 year she is walking. I mean it is not like she is walking all over, but she can put her hands on things and walk around or if I hold her hand she can walk a while. Laura is still crawling and is wonderful and my wonderful little angel!

Christie is crazy busy with her work. Macy and Steve are trying for another baby.

Tab and Stevie are doing better after being here a while. Tab got a job of his own and says they will have their own place as soon as he can afford it but for now it is really nice having them live here.

My friend Carlee lost her baby. I can't even tell you how sad that has made her family. The doctor said there was no way that baby would have lived so I guess it is merciful but you still ask why even have that happen at all?

I'm horny. Everyone tells me it is hormones and all but it is a little too much for me. I mean it is nice that I am finally feeling very positive about sex but it is also kind of strange because my mind is one way and my body is another.

Marcus wrote to me. It was a really nice letter! He attached pictures of his new house and his girlfriend (cute!) and I am praying for his happiness.

Snow is boring.

I've had a couple people send me serious letters about national health care. I guess my whole opinion of it is if it is so wonderful then 1) why do people have to be forced to buy it? and 2) why is it the very first thing that Congress and Obama did was make sure they could keep their health care? And now like a whole bunch of unions and states and all are wanting to be exempt from it?

I mean if the people who know the most about it won't use it then I am thinking it won't be all that great for me either.

Canada looks like they might legalize poly! That would be so awesome! I am thinking if it gets legalized there then it won't be a long time before it is legal here, too.

Having one baby is waaaaaay better than having two! This has been so easy compared to the last time! My feet don't hurt, my boobs feel better, I am not ripping stretch marks all the time, and I don't feel as big as a whale. If it is just one at a time after this I will be so happy!!!

The chickens are happy and doing well. I have some chicks already and the summer will probably see 60-100 new babies in the yard! That also means I will need to sell some chickens soon and that is cool with tourist season coming up.

It is 2:24am and time to go to bed even if I can't sleep.

I am sorry but we don't get HBO. Christie bought the first season of Big Love on DVD and it was just too much drama. There were things in it that were just not right but I guess that makes a good TV show.

If Steve were not there then we are taken care of financially and at this point I think all three of us would stay together at least for a while. The church tends to want widows to remarry and maybe...? I don't know. I hope it never comes up. But with the three of us our kids tie us all together and I don't ever see us drifting apart.

I had a bit of a question: I follow a lot of Muslim blogs and polygamy is coming up SO MUCH lately. I really see the contrast between the life they lead and your's. As you might know, polygamy in Islam is a bit different. It's normally not a big family like your's, but more about a husband going from one home to the other, both wives and her children living separately from each other. What do you feel are the advantages and disadvantages of both situations? Would you give up the sisterhood you have with your wives and the "big family" feel to have more of a one-on-one relationship with husband and only only you, him and your children to take care of?

I guess I am used to this and I really like it. But it could be hard if you didn't like your sisterwives and maybe that's something the Muslims think about. I also think the Muslim men don't want to be outnumbered in the house. Steve sometimes has to deal with the fact that three women will sometimes outvote his opinion and sometimes he will say he doesn't want something to happen and we all do it anyway.

Two years ago when I was thinking about this (I just had my 2nd Anniversary! Yay!) a big thing that made me want to do this was the thing that I would not be alone with a man but would have another woman to have as a friend in the house. It was a million percent different when I got married than what I thought it would be but I am still sure about this one part and I love my sisterwives and would never want to be living alone without them.

I am sure I wrote about this before but I don't mind answering this again.

In our church couples don't take another person into their family unless they are 100% debt free and have some money put away. There are no set rules about that because things happen and the rules are not going to get in the way of doing the right thing, meaning the right thing to do is always the right thing to do regardless of the rules. Like how Jesus and the Apostles healed people on the Sabbath. The rules said you're not supposed to do that but it was the right thing to do.

But mostly the rule is obeyed and only a family that can provide for a new person is accepted in doing that. Like some people ask if my family will ever add a fourth wife and that is not going to happen that I can imagine even if we wanted to. We're pretty tight on money and that will not change that I can see so it's not something to worry about.

Families that have problems get help from the church and the church has a reserve fund for that kind of thing. Our old congregation had the goal of being able to support all of our families for a year and they met that goal. Our new congregation is not doing as well and it will be a while before we get to being able to support everyone for a year. But if a family has a hard time the church does the support first because we do not want attention from anyone.

I do know some poly people are anti-American and they take welfare and call it 'bleeding the beast' and we absolutely would NEVER do that! I also have some friends online who are FLDS and they tell me they don't do that either.

I also know I never would have done this if it meant going on welfare to make things happen. Not like I am down on people who get welfare, it's just if I have a choice I don't want to be one of them.

Heidi, Thanks for giving me something to write!

1. Describe a day in the life at your farm with your family.

I'm usually up around 5am to get breakfast going unless it was my night to sleep in with Steve or to sleep in by myself and then I will get up around 7 or so. If I'm doing breakfast I get it prepped and on the table for 6:30 and that's right about when everyone else is up. By 7:30 the kitchen is clean and I'm either with the babies or the chickens collecting eggs for the day. After that I usually bake bread or prep for lunch and somewhere in that I take about an hour to be with my girls. Noon time and it's lunch and that lasts about 30 minutes or so and then it is back to babies or out to feed the cattle. After those chores are done I take another hour with my babies and then it's time to start dinner. Dinner is usually on the table at 6pm and it's cleaned up by 7pm. Then it is time to sit with the family and we talk or sometimes watch movies or something family friendly on TV. Sometimes we are out to the hot tub at night and I'll soak my feet since I can't be in there for now. Then bed time is around 9 to 10 and I usually go for 10 and feed the girls a little before bed so they sleep all night.

2. Now that you've been married a while, describe how your marriage is different from what you thought it would be (before you moved into the family home), and/or how much it's like what you thought it would be.

I am not sure what I thought it would be like before. I really didn't think of the marriage part I mostly just thought of the babies and not living at home with my mom part. That sounds pretty bad and it is pretty bad. I think I was doing things just because they were things to do and I didn't think about them as much as I should have. My wedding night was the start of a very long reality check. In a lot of ways I think it is a lot better than I thought it would be because I have gotten to know and love everyone and this is the best and most loved I've ever been. It's hard to explain but there is this warm feeling in my heart now that was never there before and I hope it never changes.

3. Tell us a funny story about what it's like to live in such a big family (I bet all those kids do some romping together).

I don't really have any stories but maybe a lot of little 'pictures'. Like getting busy with Steve in the kitchen and getting caught. Skinny dipping in the pool for the first time. Sleeping with Macy or Christie and feeling really close to them. Having one of Steve's daughters slip into my bed at night to be close to me because they love me. Having four babies and two toddlers crying all at the same time and no one else is around to help. Finding my first chicken killed by a coyote. Laughing around the dinner table as a big family. Thanksgiving. Christmas Eve and everyone dressed for church. Birthdays and LOTS of them! Chatting in the kitchen with a teenager about things that I did a few years ago as a teenager. Feeling so much older than I did two years ago. Quilting and enjoying it and not missing the city. Church picnics with lots of happy families. Showering with someone else and realizing you didn't think about it. Trusting someone with everything.

Just an update since I have some time right now:

Steve's daughter Stevie and her husband are going to be moving here to live with us in the guest house around the end of the month. Their home was being foreclosed on and the bank would not work with them so they negotiated to just leave at the end of the month instead of getting evicted. Stevie's husband lost his job and that messed things up for them and then we can't afford to do anything for them so the only thing left is to have them move here. It will be nice to have Stevie with us again but this was not the best way to do that.

It's been cloudy and will be cloudy with snow all week and I am starting to miss the better weather in California. But that's all I miss there!

My church has had two visitors lately. Lydia is visiting with a family and she decided to stay and so they're doing a wedding at church on Sunday for them and that will be nice. We also have a FLDS boy (he's 19 I think) who came in to the shelter in Denver and has moved in with a family up here. The family is going to help him get himself set up so he is not homeless anymore. He's really nice and I am hoping he stays on in town after he gets a job and all.

Steve sold his airplane because he says it was too expensive anymore to just sit in a hangar and then without a lot of work right now he doesn't need it. Macy, Christie, and me we don't miss the plane because we always worried about him flying around in it and now he's just going to use an airline when he needs to get somewhere.

My pregnancy is going so easy this time. I didn't realize how hard it was the first time until now.

Patty and Laura are doing really well. Christie has been home and she spends a lot of time with all of the babies teaching them and she's got Eric starting to read now and that is so cool! I don't think I did any reading until I was 6 or 7.

The chickens are doing good. We put in some lights in the barn for them and that got them laying more so we are leaving the lights on 16 hours a day for them.

I finished another quilt and it will be a wedding gift for Lydia. I did a quilt with chickens on it. (-:

Things are going on so I have to go but there is most of what is going on right now.

The babies live with their moms but during the day they are with whoever is free to be with them.

Now that you have been married a while and with baby #3 on the way, how has your love changed (if at all) towards Steve and your sister wives?

It is almost two years since I got married and things have changed a lot. The big thing is that I do love Steve and Christie and Macy. At first there was no way to say that because I didn't really know them and for a while I think I was even a little afraid of Steve. Once I was pregnant I really got to see how everyone could be and it was easy to start loving them.

Is this the life you imagined for yourself and how has it changed you being poly.

On the first part yes and no. I mean I came in to this with a fantasy and not thinking things all the way through and then I had to deal with reality like a husband is also a man, babies need a LOT of love and care, a home is a full time job, the world is not all about me, and the love you get is equal to the love you give. (My favorite line from a Beatles song!)

The second part is I think I was poly coming in to this and now I am just a part of a family. You don't really think of the poly thing a lot every day and the times when the poly thing is a big deal just don't happen that much. I mean most of the time being poly is just being in a big family and doing chores and cooking and talking to each other and stuff like that.

How is the quilting coming along?

Pretty good. I finished a quilt with chickens for my bed and then did another with US flags on it for Steve's Christmas present and it was fun! I do it when I am watching TV or just sitting and talking and it keeps my hands busy. I never got why some people do it but it is relaxing and sort of addictive so I get it now.

How are you feeling with this pregnancy? Are you extra tired?

I'm doing better than with the first one. This is soooooo much easier just having one baby! I get tired but not too bad.

You haven't shared recently on the blog about what your little ones are doing now. Are they getting around well on their own? Do they have any words or specially little cute actions that make you smile? You had said that you were going to have to start out sleeping together. Are they still sleeping together.

I got turned off talking about them because of some of the hate mail I get. Just figured why share something nice when some assmonkey will try to make something bad out of it? The girls are doing fine and Patty is still ahead of Laura. Laura is still the quiet one and she's a mommy's girl and Patty just loves everyone. It's pretty cool to see them so different already. They sleep together and it's funny that Patty fusses if she isn't put down with Laura so we keep them together.

Oh...how are the chickens doing? I'm curious, about how many eggs are you getting each day right now? How does that number compare to what you got during the Summer?

The chickens are doing really good. My big surprise was finding a hen with eight chicks in the wood pile outside the barn. It is freaking COLD out so it was a miracle she kept them all going. They're all inside now with the other birds. I get about five dozen eggs a day now and I sell them to one restaurant now in town for $5 a dozen. That sounds like a lot until you figure gas and all and the restaurant likes the eggs because around here most eggs come from like Kansas and you just get the white ones.

How do you feel after almost two years of marriage? Do you think this is permanant for you?

I feel happier than I did before, that is for sure! At first it was not easy but some of that was me adjusting to not having all the drama going on. When you're used to fighting all the time and then it stops it takes a while before you're not ready for a fight all the time. Yes, it is permanent. There's no going back on motherhood and I love Steve and Christie and Macy and would never want to be away from them.

How do you feel about sex now? Are you still scared?

I am much more comfortable with sex now and most of that is because I know Steve and I love him now. I love being with him and thinking about having babies for him is beyond words for me! Every time he is with me he is telling me he wants to have children with me and it makes me feel so loved and so important. It is also easy to forget being scared when the sex is really good!

Not that I can imagine. Money is really tight and being away from California has cost us more money in some ways so I don't see that happening. I won't say 'never' because I know better but I will say not now and not any time soon.

I want my girls to be happy. Whatever that means for them is fine with me.

What do you do for hobbies and for yourself?

I cook a lot and I am quilting too and that is fun. And taking care of the family is also something I love to do and I enjoy it so it is kind of a hobby. It is a lot of hard work around here but it is not like it is a job with a boss telling you what to do. You just see things that need doing and you do them.

Not so much. I had one last month and it was not so bad. Marcus and a few other people chat with me on IM when I have the time and we do chat about personal things and I don't mind because it is sometimes nice to have someone to chat with about that kind of stuff. We don't live in a state with any noticeable population of polygamous households. How or where do we find like-minded people to even discuss courtships or that sort of thing?

I found my family on the Sac-Poly Yahoo group and there are a lot of other sites where you can meet poly-minded people or just chat with them. I am not an expert on poly so I don't want to really say what sites to go to but maybe the people who read my blog have some sites they like and will share?

That because it is probably not true! I had no idea that California had a LOT of poly people until I started looking. Most of the poly people I ran into were not religious or are pagan (their words, not mine) but then some are religious and they really keep it all on the downlow so you don't know they are there. We used to live near Roseville, California and almost none of our neighbors knew we were a poly family.

The Fundamentalist LDS people are in a few states but then I get email from some of them who live in states I don't think most people know about. I won't say where to protect their privacy.

One bit of advice if you want to be left alone is don't call your 2nd wife your wife anywhere in public. She can be a friend who lives with you, your mistress, you can even say she is an ex-wife and no one will ever care. In my house I just say I live here is all and that's all people ask.

Poly is not easy for some people but if your wife is 100% in favor of it I think it is beautiful. You get to have a best friend in the house who knows everything. That is the other thing, if you have any secrets and want to keep them then poly is not for you. Like with us there are three women who really know Steve and we talk and when something is up one of us notices something, another noticed something else, the third noticed something more, and then we talk and put it all together.

I will keep you in my prayers that no matter what you decide to do it is the right thing for you both!

The snow is mostly six feet deep around here and it's in drifts that are like sand dunes in a way. It's beautiful but not when you have things to do.

I don't know why, but I am just not thinking about a lot to write lately. Maybe it is motivation? Maybe I'm a little bored. Every day is more or less the same since Christmas so it is not like it is all that exciting.

I am always good with questions and I don't mind if anyone wants to post just random thoughts about stuff like global warming...HAH!!!!

She is doing fine but is missing her mom. Macy does most of the care for Rachel and her little boy Jacob just because it makes sense for some practical reasons. Rachel has a lazy eye and the doctor says it will be something to look at when she gets a little older. Other than that she seems just great!

Do you plan to get more livestock in the Spring, such as dairy cattle? What livestock do you currently have? Goats, horses, pigs... that sort of things?

As you can tell, I'm curious as to how well all of you have settled into the new place now that you've been there for a while.

We won't be running dairy cattle here because it is too cold. We have our horses and they don't mind the snow too much and then the cattle we have are doing fine so far. The guest house is closed for the winter to save money on heat and all and we will probably open it up in the spring and use it then. Being more casual has been nice but we still dress up for church. Lauren and Hannah are liking it but for them it means they get to wear shirts and jeans. We're settled in and it seems like home now. None of us really miss California all that much because there is so much freedom here. Like if Lauren goes riding she can wear a gun and no one around here will care. I like it because it is so quiet and you don't hear a freeway or anything except the birds and all.

1. Not much. My old friends don't have much to do with me anymore and makes me wonder if they think you can 'catch' being poly or something. My mom has a boyfriend now so we don't talk much. My other support system are my online friends. I chat with some people on Yahoo when I can and there are some sites I go to and chat with friends sometimes and then there is this. I used to get a lot from the blog but it got kind of nasty and that made me back off a bit, I guess. But I do have some good friends from here I email with when I can.

3. Just fine. She's really easy to get along with. She's mostly quiet but she has this really sweet loving side to her that just makes you feel special when she turns it on. She is a really special friend to me and always will be.

Macy had her little boy on Thursday night and his name is Jacob. He's got the blackest hair I have ever seen on a little baby and his eyes are baby blue but that might change. Macy did really well with the labor and started late on Tuesday. We got her into the hospital for the birth and it went fine really. Both of them are home now and doing great.

I'd write more but my heart just isn't in writing right now. I don't know why.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Things have been VERY busy here and I have much less time to be on the blog or on Yahoo anymore so sorry for all the IM messages I have not returned.

Before I get into anything else...I'm pregnant! I thought I was pregnant a couple weeks ago and took two tests and they said I wasn't pregnant but then it just felt familiar and I KNEW it so I took one again yesterday and it came up with a = and then I did it again and it came up the same! Wow.

I'm expecting it is just one this time and got to say that twins is something I only ever want to do once. I looooove my girls but it was not an easy thing to do with twins in so many ways. Ooooh, enough about me.

Macy is getting ready for her baby. The doctor says anytime now and that is about right. We've got baby stuff ready for her and she is doing really, really well. Macy totally NEVER complains and I wish I could learn how to be more like her that way.

My resolution for 2011 is to shut up. I really talk too much and then what I do is talk about me. 2011 will be more about other people and less about me.

We've got snow on the ground now and things are pretty. It is not a lot of snow yet but that is coming because it is not supposed to stop snowing until maybe Wednesday. The chickens are in the barn and doing good and some of them are pretty silly when they get in the snow.

We're doing better with money and that's mostly because Christie is working again. She is due home on Tuesday and then next Monday she has to go back to work out of town. We all really miss her. Eric and Emmy are doing great and part of the big family thing that is nice is they have lots of love and attention and Steve is home all the time right now so he is spending a lot of time with Eric who is almost 3.

I am working at a restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights now as a cook and doing good at it. The pay is amazing to me and then there are tips at the end of the night and I am stopping my allowance from the family for now and planning on paying some back in after Christmas. It's nice to have money of my own for that.

We heard from Shari. She called on Friday night and talked to Lauren and then Steve and says she is doing well. She is in Seattle now and has a place and lives in a place called Capitol Hill and says it is nice and close to where she works. She is wanting Lauren and Hannah to come visit her after New Year's and Steve says it's fine with him. Lauren and Hannah seem a little happier after talking to Shari and maybe they will be happier after they see her.

Steve had our cattle checked for brucellosis because there is some worry about it around here and they all came up fine. He pulled them in to a smaller part of the ranch so they are not on the fence line and near other cattle or the buffalo for now.

Macy shot her first coyote last week. She was home with the babies and saw the coyote around the barn and went out from upstairs and shot it. Steve and I found it when we got home and it was a pretty awesome shot because coyotes don't let you get a second shot at them. It's scary to see them that close to the house but everyone around here says it is normal after the rodents go into hibernation for the coyotes to come around homes looking for cats and dogs.

I really wish I had more time to write but I don't. It's just me doing most stuff these days so I need to go.

Just what's up is all

Haven't put anything on here for a while mostly because it's just been really busy. There is a lot to do with winter coming on and we've had to get a lot of things done. We got four truckloads of alfalfa put up in the hay barn this week and I am so stinking sore from all that! We had two of Steve's friends come to help with it all but it was still a lot of hard work to get it all done.
It's in the 30's at night now so we towed the chicken coop into the barn and got them set up for the winter. They can still get outside to play and all but they will be safer in the barn with the weather coming. My big surprise yesterday was finding a silver lace hen with TWELVE chicks hiding under the steps on the side of the house. Not all the chicks are silvaer lace so I am thinking some of the chickens were laying there and the momma hen just sat on all those eggs. This puts us around 220 chickens now and we're making some good money from the eggs which is really helping out.

Christie is gone on work and I miss her a lot. Macy and Steve are home and so are the girls and all the babies but having Christie gone the place is so quiet! Steve is off work now for the winter but says he might get some work clearing roads if there's any landslides or whatever that happens. It feels weird to not want anything bad to happen anywhere but then to know we need the money when it does.

Both of my girls are crawling now and Patty is doing a little standing when she pulls herself up on things. Patty is 100% Steve's girl and you can tell she will be really strong when she gets older. My Laura is doing nice and she is so happy all the time! Macy calls her "Pigeon" because she coos so much! The girls are calling her that too so I am wondering if it will be a nickname for her. Laura did get a bad bruise from her vaccinations last week but will be okay. It just looks like she got kicked is all.

The economy is not good and that is hurting a lot of families. At church on Sunday the pastor told us that aid had to be given to four families in the church to save their homes and there will be a meeting tomorrow after church to talk about the church buying their homes so they can stay there. It's really bad right now. Everyone talks about how they have less money than last year and then taxes go up in January and people are just wondering how they are going to get by. I got an email from my friend Carmen who said her family got their foreclosure notice and have to be out by the end of November. She will have to quit school and go get a job to help pay rent because her father got laid off from his job making lights. It's not looking good and I keep hearing on the news about a recovery but everywhere I look I see things getting worse. It's really scary.

One of the older men in the church has pancreatic cancer and they think he will be gone by Christmas and that has a lot of people really sad. He was a soldier in the Korean War and his kids got him to move here after his wife died and he is the nicest man.

I need to go work on lunch but wanted to get on here.

Cooking Tips part Two

There isn't one brand of knives for everything. I have a sashimi knife that I love to use for filets and for trimming beef and the knife I have for that probably won't need to be sharpened for a very long time. My boning knife is a six inch Forschner and it works really well. I also use a Forschner offset knife for bread and it does a really good job but if I want to make really perfect cuts with bread I use my sashimi knife. I use a six inch Shun usuba for prep instead of a cleaver. The brands are not as important as what knives you like. I started school with a Wusthof set and then traded and bought knives from my classmates until I had my own thing going on. They all did the same thing.

Sharpening a good knife means using a whetstone with oil and if you don't know how to do this don't learn how on an expensive knife! If you think that means I messed up a good knife you're right!

Pots and pans don't have to be some expensive brand. Just go to a restaurant supply place and go look at their stuff. What you want are thick bottoms for good heat distribution and none of the non-stick stuff on them. Cast itron pans are awesome but you can't use them on a lot of cook tops so be sure to read the manual for your cook top before you use on. If you have a gas cook top you can use any pot or pan you want.

Cooking Tips

I'm taking a moment from making bread right now to post some tips because people have asked and because it is on my mind. I'm making sourdough bread with the starter I mentioned last week. It's sweet and bitter in the right way (I hope!) and it's supposed to be on the side for dinner tonight.

#1. This is pretty easy: Keep a clean and organized kitchen. A good chef/cook uses a kitchen the same way most people use their hands. It's part of you when you do it right. You can just reach for stuff without really looking and you know it will be there. When you're in a hurry a organized kitchen can save you up to an hour prepping for a big dinner. It was the first lesson we had to learn in school when we set up our labs.

#2. Get some good knives and then get good with them. Buy some radishes or potatoes and practice making things. Practice dicing. Practice peeling. And then practice sharpening them. There are a lot of good knives and the best ones fit your hand, they don't rust, they keep an edge, and they don't bend unless it's a boning knife and you want that to flex a little.

#3. Get a food thermometer. You need it for making bread to start out. A good yeast bread starts by getting the yeast going and that means using 105-115 degree water. Too cool and it won't rise because the yeast isn't alive enough and too hot and you killed the yeast. You also need it for cooking roasts. I put one in a roast when I start cooking it and when the core of the roast hits 135 I pull the roast our and let it temper and while it tempers the core warms up to 140 or so which is perfect.

#4. Cutting boards. Plastic for meat and then wood for breads. The wood board needs to be wide enough to work your bread and hold some extra flour for the board and it should be a hard enough wood that it doesn't dent. I oil my boards with vegetable oil and once a year you should clean them really good. We have a steam cleaner and I used that when we moved up here and it got all the old oil off the boards and now they look really good.

#5. Kitchen Bouquet. It's this kind of gravy stuff you can get at the store. It makes awesome gravy and I use it instead of keeping reductions in the freezer for everything. I still use some reductions for some stuff, but Kitchen Bouquet is better than some of the things I could scratch make.

#6. Butter. Use butter whenever you're told to use a butter substitute. That's because there's no substitute for butter! Olive oil and vegetable oils are great for some things but when it comes to frying, making a glaze, making a decent English muffin you just have to use butter. I know there are health issues for some people so just use less or just have it once in a while but it has got to be part of your cooking supply.

#7. Pans with thick bottoms and none of that stupid nonstick stuff. When that nonstick stuff starts to come off your pans it goes in your food and you're eating it. A thick bottom pan helps evenly distribute heat and that prevents your food from scorching. If you LIKE that burnt taste just ignore this. You don't need a $3,000 set of pans, just good thick pans that hold heat.

Helene, I wasn't going to write anything tonight because I don't have a lot of time but I wanted to write back to you.

When I said that SHari's daughters were enjoying the new peace I really meant it. Lauren and Hannah have said that a lot. I'm not sure how to explain it but I get it. I was so used to a family meaning fights all the time that it was weird to be with this family where no one fights. The thing was that what I had at home was so bad that I didn't notice that as nice it was here it was still stressed all the time with drama from Shari.

When Shari left things got rough for a while and then they got better. We are not doing so well with money anymore but it is soooo calm here now. Shari was not like some awful person but she was always saying...shit to everyone and you'd just feel like crap after she said this things to you that were not so bad you could just tell her off but they were bad enough you felt it. Does that make sense?

She always said shit to her girls that made them feel like they were failing in some ways and she did it to everyone else too. It doesn't mean she was bad all the time but she was the unhappy person in the family and without her around it just got better is all. Lauren and Hannah are pretty honest with us (me, Macy, and Christie) and if they were not happy they would say so. It still upsets them their mom left like she did and they miss her. I do too! But now that her stress is not in the house we all noticed it being gone. If she was to come back that stress would have to stay gone. I don't think she is coming back but still.

One thing I REALLY hate about women is how some of them make shitty comments to people but they do it in a way that if you say something back YOU are the one everyone thinks is wrong. )-:

I don't know what you think of all that but what I think is that I didn't see the problems with Shari before but when the problems went away is when I noticed them. Same with everyone else. And all that doesn't mean we don't miss Shari, we just don't miss the drama.

"Sister Wives" stuff

For my family and for our church this has been big news this week watching this to see what happens. Part of the problem is the people on the TV show live in Utah and the Mormons probably feel like they are supposed to 'prove' something to the rest of the country by prosecuting the Browns. I'm glad we don't live in Utah but it's still a worry because if a big deal is made out of this then that will make it harder on our family I am sure.

Someone emailed me and asked if we knew the Browns and we don't. But they do seem like some of the families we know so it's not like they are so strange. The one big house is pretty normal but the husband with the fancy car is not normal for us at all. Most families don't like to attract attention so their cars are pretty normal. Christie has her Volvo and I think that is the fanciest car anyone I know has. Where we live now it's mostly pick up trucks and 4WD SUVs and that's what most families have.

I saw the show with the 4th wife and the jealousy and I totally understand. It's hard and it isn't like it is so much jealousy against the person it's more like it's the situation. Macy coming into the family was a good and Godly thing to do instead of telling her to leave but that led to Shari leaving in some way so I have mixed feelings about it. I love Macy but if she had not had her problems that made her come to us we would not have had a 4th wife and then lost Shari I think.

Losing Shari messed us up with money so there is no way we would have a 4th now so that is not a worry. Everyone is happier without Shari being so serious and upset around the house and even her daughters are pretty happy now and loving the new peace in the house. I read one article about the Browns that said the life was a fantasy land and I think that sometimes it is. It's kind of weird sometimes when you go like weeks without an argument with anyone. I mean it is good but I was so used to fights with my mom all the time that now it is kind of weird sometimes. I can understand why this life would look so weird or even fake to someone who is used to a lot more drama in their life.

I think part of it is we keep quiet anyway so our lives are not that exciting with bad things happening. There are no fights over money, the bills are always paid first, we have food on the table, the house is warm or cool when it needs to be, we have nice clothes, cars are not a problem, and we all have some private time and our own space when we want it. There is just nothing to really get upset about.

New topic: Cooking

Steve was out hunting and he and his friends came back with 22 geese. I volunteered to clean them and prep them and the men all jumped and said yes. Yay! That meant I got 22 goose livers to make foie gras with! They were pretty lean so I added two sticks of butter and then a little broth reduction and it came out pretty good. It was funny some of the men had never had goose liver before and they acted like it was something awful until they tried it. We roasted three of the geese and they came out pretty good. Wild geese are more lean than the ones you can get in the store so they are not so greasy and I liked that.

I'm trying to do sourdough bread and I am growing a starter right now. It's three days old and I am going to try some on Sunday for dinner and see how it goes. I have tried before and they don't do too well but this time I am using brewing yeast we got from a home beer making friend and I like the smell! It has the right bitter scent to it so I am hoping it comes out okay.

It is almost 8:30 and time for our movie. We are going to watch "The Book of Eli". It is supposed to be a good story but lots of violence. I'm not so much on the violence but it is supposed to be a good movie anyway.

Welcome Renee Rachel!!

Last Sunday, September 5th, at 9:25pm our family welcomed Renee Rachel into the world! She's got dark brown hair like her mom and she was 8lbs 3oz and 20 inches tall. Christie is doing just fine and is happy to be a mom for the third time!

The week has been very busy and I have not been on here a lot but it is for a very pretty reason!

I was wondering who kills and dresses the chickens when it's time?

Steve does. I can't do it.

Are you thinking of getting any more stock to use for food such as goats & dairy cows, or pigs & cows for their meat?

We are running Angus until the snow comes in. 50 of them are ours and Steve will probably take one for meat pretty soon. I really don't want dairy cows again they are so much work.

With so many females in the home, does everyone tend to use their special talents to improve the atmosphere of the home? (Such as you doing a lot of the cooking and Steve doing the fence repairs and other household improvements.)

Yeah I do a lot of the cooking now and we all have our things to do. Lauren is good with the tractor so she does a lot of the plowing when it needs to be done and she moves the pipes when they need to be moved.

Does the family have a job chart of things that need to be done daily?

No, we just do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. Everyone knows their thing so you just know you need to do it because everyone else depends on you to do it.

Do you think that Shari's and Steve's girl are possibly depressed? Or maybe they are taking advantage of their mom not being there to encourage them to do their fair share of the responsibilities. (I got the feeling from some of your earlier messages that everyone in the family contributed to the daily care and responsibilities.) I understand that you and the girls feel that Shari abandoned the family.

Yes, they are a little depressed and it is totally okay. They still do their fair share of work but things are just more relaxed now and it's more that things get done because they need to get done and not because someone said to do it.

What do the kids (mainly the older ones) think of the poly lifestyle? How is the subject handled with this kids?

They grew up around poly families so they don't really ever say too much about it. They know they have choices in life so they don't have to do it and even if they did want to do it it takes a long time for a family to be able to do poly. They have to be debt free and all that. About half the kids from the church leave for college and don't come back when they are done and that is just fine with everyone.

Do they have outside friends, and do they realize that their family is different/uncoventional?

Not a lot of church kids have outside friends and it is just because most families homeschool.

Do you guys make much of a distinction between whose kids are whose or are you more like one big family?

Everyone knows who their mom is but I think the nice thing for the kids is they have different moms to go to for different things. In some ways we are the one big family but then in others we aren't. No one makes a big deal about it.

What is Steve like as a father to all the kids?

I wish he had been my father. I mean that. He is really good with the kids and he makes a lot of time for them and still gets lots of things done. I think he works out of town sometimes to get some rest because he is so busy when he is home.

How often do you have sex with steve?

Right now more than Christie because she is due pretty soon and is not in the mood and Macy is at about 6 months and is not always interested. Sometimes he just sleeps with Christie or Macy to be close to them and that is really sweet. He did the same with me before the twins were born. But lately I am with him more than usual.

Maybe this has been answered before, but I can't remember. Are your intimate times always 1 on 1, or do you ever sleep with more than one sisterwife and steve? What is that like? I hope none of these are too innapropriate/personal!

Sometimes we sleep together and that's mostly just cuddle time and maybe some kissing and it is really nice when it's cold out. It's nothing weird.

Yes I am.

2. Is it still scary when your husband is trying to impregnate you?

Sometimes it is. I mean it is hard not to think about what it means but most of the scary stuff had to do with being a mom for the first time and that is over with so it is not so scary anymore.

3. Are you looking forward to being pregnant again?

Mostly yes! I don't know how to explain it but I really liked being pregnant at least until like the last month or so and I am hoping it will be easier when it is just one baby and not two.

4. Do you still have regrets about joining a poly family?

No, I love my family and can't imagine anything different now.

5. Ever think you might leave like Shari did?

No.

6. If you did would you want to be in another poly family or would you want to have a man of your own?

I don't want to leave so this is not something I've really thought about.

Steve is not going to do this but I think I would tell her the truth about what all this means and that it is not a fairy tale life.

Yes, but we are not allowed to get drunk.

Sometimes I am all mushy for him but most of the time I am just happy to have him there.

Peace and quiet, no crazy people on the road, no one staring at you when you go shopping, people say hi to you all the time here and no one even looks at you in California like they are scared to say hi or something. People are just a lot friendlier here.

We are not doing dates right now just because money is really tight and it costs a lot to go somewhere. I mean we are 40 miles from town.

No. I got some matching outfits for them as presents but I never have them in the same thing at the same time. I really want them to be who they are and not ever half of someone else.

No. The roads are mostly gravel and it is too hard to run on them. We have a treadmill here and I use that sometimes but Christie will probably use it more after her baby comes.

The only regret I ever had was I wish I had taken things a lot slower. I was really stupid when I came here and thought it was a big fairy tale because things were so much better than with my mom and I rushed into things. I didn't have to do the wedding night and I could have waited but I wanted the fairy tale wedding night and was not really ready for all of that.

18. What kind of disagreements does your family have(if any) from time to time?

CHORES!!!! Chores are a very big deal around here because you have to figure out what you can't do when you are pregnant and then everyone else has to agree and then someone else has to do your work for you. Lauren and Hannah are not so big into doing everything since their mom left and then with Macy and Christie pregnant at the same time that means me, Lauren, and Hannah have a lot of the hard work to do and it is easy to get really tired of doing all that all the time.

19. do you ever get upset with your sister wives?

Yes, sometimes.

20. Do you ever feel jealous of your sister wives? and if so how do you deal with it?

Yes. When I was expecting the girls and had to stop being with Steve I missed him a lot and it was hard to know he was with someone else when I really wanted to be held and I got a little jealous. I just had to deal with it is all because no one was doing anything wrong and I knew what I was getting into when I joined the family. It is my problem and not theirs.

If you have more children in the future, would you consider allowing your sisterwives to act as a wet nurse rather than use bottles if they were willing?

Yes, I did that for Christie's daughter Emily for a while. I don't see anything wrong with that but I know it bothers some women.

How are Shari's daughters reacting to their new twin sisters?

Just fine. I think having babies around is pretty normal to them and they used to babysit for other families so they know some more stuff with babies that I did not know at first.

If your chickens stop laying, will you use them for meat so you know where your food comes from?

We already do. I have a couple special chickens who are more pets and we'll never do that with them but the rest are chickens and that is what they are for. The ones that have problems end up on the table like if they are laying soft shell eggs all the time or eggs without shells.

What is your favorite kind of cake to make for your family?

My favorite is chocolate with cherry filling and buttercream frosting but everyone else likes my Boston Cream Pie. I make it more like a cake than a pie and my trick is I use banana slices between the layers to make it stand up better and then everyone likes the banana slices.

Would you consider taking up knitting or sewing as hobbies, especially since they could be used as a means of providing clothing for your family?

That's weird you asked because I am starting quilting this fall and joining the quilting circle when it starts up next month.

What is your favorite dinner to make since taking the cooking classes? -Meg

The best one I have done is a pork shoulder roast. I took a 15 pound pork shoulder and put it in a 18 quart pot with vegetable oil on the bottom. I preheated it on a high heat to where the oil spattered when you dropped a little water in it and then seared the pork shoulder all the way around. I burned it a little on purpose to give it some flavor. Then I filled the pot up with water, a bottle of red wine, basil leaves, a pinch of anise and added about a cup of salt and then let it simmer for almost 6 hours. Then I pulled the pork out and strained the liquid and then used Kitchen Bouquet and some flour to make a gravy and added some pepper.

I served it with steamed Brussels sprouts and Idaho Gold potatoes mashed with one yam and butter. The yam adds a neat texture to the potatoes and it makes for a nice color balance on the plate. The whole dinner was really easy to do and I used only two pots. One for the pork and then one to boil the potatoes and I put the steamer over that pot for the carrots.

There were no leftovers and I only really had two pots to clean up after dinner so that is my favorite dinner so far.

1.is Macey pregnant yet?

Macy is pregnant and due in late November or early December. I haven't written much about her on here just because I was getting too personal with her stuff.

2.do you think there might be another 4th wife sometime in the future?

I don't think so at least right now. It will be a long time before we have the money saved up that Shari got and things are really tight. And things are really good with all of us right now so why mess up a good thing?

3. how is Steve doing?

He's been okay. I won't say he is good because that isn't true but then he isn't all messed up that any of us can see. Part of it is he has been having to focus on work and I think that helps.

4.how are the Shari's daugthers handling the divorce?

Okay to not-okay. They feel abandoned and as much as the three of us try to love them we are not a substitute for their mom. To be honest I feel a little abandoned too because I would not have done this without Shari here to be kind of a mom to me too.

5.how are your twins doing :)

Patty is doing awesome and Laura is doing good but she is fussy sometimes and has been sick a little. I think they'll be fine but it is really clear that they are already very different little people. Laura is trying to make words and is ahead of Patty that way but Patty is much more physical and is crawling and Laura just wants to be on her belly all the time. I do know I love them so much and that they are everything I wanted to have in my children!

6.have everyone stopped wearing the dresses now that Shari is gone?

We wear dresses to church on Sunday but anymore around the house we don't. I will wear a dress in the yard sometimes to stay out of the sun but in the house I like t-shirts and shorts and pajamas.

7.what kind of schedule do the you all the wives have with Steve?

A schedule didn't really work out and right now with Macy and Christie both pregnant he spends a lot of time with me for some things but then he has to be with Christie for business and he likes to talk to Macy a lot. Christie says between us we make a really awesome wife! I think that's true and we're just letting things happen and not trying to force anything to happen. So far that is working but we can always do something different if we need to.

I'll try and think of more later, I'll try not to get to personal though.

"Sister Wives" on TLC

The Learning Channel has a new TV show called "Sister Wives" that they are putting on this fall. I think this might have been the same thing they wanted my family to do. I posted that email on here I'm pretty sure.
We had my friend Carlee and her new family at the house yesterday and that TV show was a big subject. We all agree that the family on the show is asking for trouble because they have kids and the social workers won't be able to stop themselves from raiding the place like they did with the Mormons in Texas. I can't imagine putting my family at risk to go on TV but at the same time I hope the message gets out that poly is just another way to live and love but with a lot more laundry!

Steve and Christie are going to get legally married soon before the baby comes, like next week. They are just going to go to town and do it because they are already married in the church so there won't be a big deal with the church but we will still have a little party at home for them. We all talked about it and Steve and Christie were sooooo cool about it! It was really sweet that they wanted to make sure Macy and me felt okay about it but we already said it should be Christie to be the one married to Steve. It really is okay with us our big thing is we just want someone married to him just in case we need someone to be married to him like if he is in the hospital or something.

The one thing I saw on TV with this Sister Wives show was a interview where the new wife said she fell in love with the family first and then fell in love with the husband. Wow! That was exactly what I said too! It's nice to know someone else has the same kind of feelings and that makes me feel not as weird as I feel sometimes.

I had to look and see if we get TLC and we do so I will be watching that show when it is on if I have time. I watched four episodes of Big Love and stopped watching because it was just a crazy soap opera and the poly thing was so unreal in it.

The chickens are doing really well. We had another bunch of coyotes around their coop and this time Steve got three of them. The thing was the chickens were all freaked out and some of them lost a lot of feathers flying around and all. They will be okay but I don't like them being freaked out. Another thing that came up was the local butcher asked me this week when I wanted to start selling my layers for cooking and I guess I have to think about that. When they stop laying it will be time for them to move on but I have a couple special ones I will keep no matter what. For now they should keep laying for another year or so and I will worry about that then.

Someone asked about heating the chickens coop in the winter and Steve's plan is to just tow their trailer into the barn and let them stay in there. The coop gets pretty warm on its own with all the chickens in it and if it is out of the weather they should be okay. And then the barn has a heater that won't let it drop below 40 so that will be all taken care of. We're supposed to get really cold weather so I am worried about that but then I am also excited because this will be my first time living in snow and I hope it will be fun.

I'm a chef! Yay! It is so cool to have something finished and to have something that can help me earn some money if we need it. You're not really a professional until you get paid to do something but it still feels really cool to finish this and to be more than I used to be.

Steve and Shari's divorce is final now and I will hear more about it today or tomorrow but the thing is that it is over and it is not like some drama that will keep going forever. I got a few emails asking how it went so fast and it is because the church makes people do legal things that protect everyone when a divorce happens and it goes fast with no arguments over anything because it is all agreed to when you get married. Steve and Christie will be getting legally married maybe in September or October and that is the right thing for everyone. Shari is in Portland and just wants a lot of time to herself so Lauren and Hannah are staying with us.

My Patty and my Laura are doing really well. They are on the bottle and soft food now and that made my trip and my life a little easier. Breastfeeding is great and all but you leak and that is a pain and then you can be sore sometimes and then I can't get a lot of sleep. Now I am sleeping and the babies sleep all night now but I still check them when I go to bed. It was sooooooooooooooo hard to be away from them this last week! It's like I went to California and left my heart here. They are doing well in weight but Patty is about a pound bigger than Laura and is more active. Laura is a doll and does not fuss or cry much unless she is wet but then Patty is the happy one who loves to smile all the time. I love them so much.

The chickens are doing good. We have a nice fenced area for them and they have their trailer for the coop still. We put a net over their fenced area because we had hawks coming around a lot. Christie shot a coyote on Tuesday that was out around the chicken pen looking at the chickens and scaring them. We hear coyotes at night but this was the first one anyone saw in the day and it must have been really hungry or maybe sick. Christie thinks it was sick and had Lauren put it on our brush pile and burned it just in case.

Thanks for the good questions! Sometimes things are just what they are and I don't know what to write about so this is a nice way for me to find something to say.

Shari was homeschooling the kids wasn't she? who is going to do that now that she is gone, or will they go to a public school?

Lauren and Hannah will be doing some homeschooling with us and they will be going to a small school that a church family runs starting after the harvest is all done. The little kids we can homeschool and Macy says she will get her teaching certificate for this state so she can teach and we can have a private school. She can do that mostly by mail here so it is not a big deal.

What type of denomination do you and your family belong to? If you do not belong to any mainstream denomination what at the doctorines of your faith?

Our church is supposed to be like a old school Methodist church. Not United Methodist but it is supposed to be like the Evangelical Brethren and I don't know a lot about that. I know we really have our own thing and then the three main congregations do some different stuff. Like this one meets ever Sunday and we have a church and my old one met once a month at people's homes.

I never would have imagined when I first started reading this blog, that Shari would the one to leave. It is the disruption of a long standing relationship, and the separation of a mother from her children. It makes me sad.

I know that is not a question but I wanted to say something about it. I love Christie and Steve but I really would NEVER done this without Shari here. She was like the rock in the family that made me feel safe and at the same time she was really into the rules and all. Things are way more less stressed without her here but it also doesn't feel as permanent as it use to be. We are all going to work hard to be a good family but having her leave is hard because I know Steve is the man and all that but Shari was the head of the house for real and her being gone took a lot of the life out of the house. I really miss her and wish she would come home but just be less stressed if she did.

Next week I have to be back in California to do my final exam and get my diploma for cooking school. I'm pretty sure I will do fine but hope to get a prayer from everyone too! Thanks!

July Update

One of my chat friends said that our old normal is being replaced by a new normal and that is the best way to say that. Shari being gone made us see how stressed things were for her and for us because when she left all that stress did too. Steve is still hurting from Shari leaving but then he is more relaxed and you can see it and his blood pressure is down when he went to see the doctor!

It came up so here is an update on everyone now and here goes:

Steve is 45 and lives here and commutes to his work in California. He wants to move his business closer to where we live and is trying to find jobs near here.

Christie is 30 and has two babies, Eric who is 2 1/2 and Emily/Emmy who is 1 and she is due with another baby in September. She is saying she needs to start working again to make money to make up for what had to get paid to Shari and might have to get a job after the baby is born.

I am 19 going to be 20 in a month and I have two babies Patty and Laura who are both alomst 3 mos. I have about 160 chickens now and get $4.50 a dozen eggs and that is doing really well and I might go to 200 chickens next year.

Macy is 22 and is due around the end of November.

Lauren is 15 and Hannah is 12 and they are Steve and Shari's daughters and are going to stay here with us after the divorce is all done. Lauren was supposed to be the one going to college but now she is thinking she wants a family like her sister did and we will see what happens.

I know I probably said this a lot already but with Shari gone things are more relaxed in the house. It's like this big tension is gone and we didn't know what it was until it was gone. We all still miss her a lot but I guess what we want is for her to be here but without all the stuff that was making things not so great.

About my school I have to go to California next month and do my final exams and then do my final presentation and they are going to let me graduate and I will be a chef! I really want to have something else I can do to make money if I need it and being a chef will really help. I don't talk about my cooking much but my cooking really got better once I knew what to do. My mom never taught me how to cook because with her cooking meant you open a can or put something in the microwave. It was so cool the first time I made a cake and not from a box! It's still like this whole new world to go in the kitchen and see things and not just see the ingredients but see what you can make with them.

Thank you all for the nice things you have said and for the prayers! I really, really appreciate it!

There were a lot of questions on the blog and email and I am sorry if I don't get them all.

The Pastor from where Shari is now called yesterday and told us she is okay and that she is not going to use a lawyer out of the church. She will accept the 20% of everything she has a right to and then leave Lauren and Hannah with us. Shari is going to leave the church and the Pastor said she agreed to see a therapist too to help her adjust to things.

Yeah I think that having a fourth wife and a third wife (me) was not so good a idea for Shari. I know she wanted more kids in the house but then I really think she meant she wanted to have the kids. And then when me and Macy came here we got a lot of attention and that probably hurt Shari and it showed. It sucks because for me and Macy there is no going back on things to make it good for Shari and if I could do that I would.

She was really upset and we all got use to it and I hate to say it but you notice it more because she left. Now things are so calm that you really see how upset it was before. I mean she used to give everyone hard looks sometimes like she was way pissed at you and then you'd ask what was wrong and she'd say nothing and play it off and you'd be thinking you imagined it.

Menopause is probably part of what happened with her and maybe it is hormones? I don't know. But I am listening to people talk about it and it could be that she was upset that she just could not have babies anymore and that was a big thing. I really don't know and am just saying things here and don't mean to make it gossip.

It is sunny and warm today but not too hot and we have bad weather tomorrow so there is a lot to do and I need to go. I hope you all have a nice Saturday.

Shari really isn't coming back and she is making that really clear to everyone. She was at Stevie's house in California and then went up to Portland with a friend of hers. I don't know what all happened but she is leaving everything and even Lauren and Hannah. She says they are better off here but then some of this is Shari wanting to be alone I think. I love her and care about her but I think this is being selfish not thinking about her kids and it was really wrong the way she just left like she did.
We think she was thinking about this and planning it for a few months and maybe it would have helped if she had said something? Even if it didn't help it would have been easier for everyone when this happened if it was not the big surprise it is.
Our new Pastor has been over a few times and has been really nice to talk to but it is sad this is how we get to know him.

Sad news

This last week Steve and Shari had a lot of arguments and fighting and I am not sure what all of it was about but yesterday Shari stayed home from church and when we all got home she was gone and left a message saying she was going to her sister's place in Oregon. She called Steve last night and told him on the phone she was going to get a divorce. Shari is legally married to Steve so that means a legal divorce. Shari's daughters are here with us and they are really broken up about this. The rest of us are too.
I know some of what Shari was upset about was moving out of California and being away from Stevie and so many people she knows. I think there are other things too but I think this is the biggest problem and I don't know what to say about it.
Steve is really upset and depressed and went fishing today and was gone most of the morning. He came back with no fish so I think he just wanted private time to think is all. We're all giving him space right now and we're all kind of shocked with this too. Christie was seriously quiet and that is totally not like her to be that way and I know it is bothering her.
There really isn't anything else worth mentioning right now just this and we can use some prayer for healing right now. Thanks.

One thing I have discovered with having children is that I don't have a lot of time anymore. I totally love my girls so I am just saying that this is just been a big huge change in my life is all. If you see that I am not writing in this blog a lot anymore that means I am not in email or chat that much anymore either.

Someone asked if Steve and me were talking about more kids and we are. From the beginning I knew that if I did this and married Steve that a big part of this was to be a mom and that was what I wanted and that is what will happen. Right now nothing is being planned so the only thing I can say is that someday I will have more kids. Right now I really want to enjoy the wonderful beautful babies God has already blessed us with!

Rude comments do not belong in my blog. This is my place to write and relax and take some time to just write stuff down so someday I can come back and look at it.

The new house is working out really good and the kitchen is a total dream. I never had a kitchen sink with an awesome view until now and it makes doing pots and pans kind of nice. My school let me finish some work online but I need to go back there in August to do my finals so I can get my diploma and I will be doing that. It means a week away from home but it will worth it to finish something and be called a chef. I will be staying with Stephanie (Stevie) and her husband and Stevie will take care of my girls when I am in class.

Things are doing pretty good here so far. Still getting use to the place and all and it is REALLY different when it is night time because you see so many stars! I never knew there were so many stars! It's beautiful and when you get use to the light at night you can kind of see things even with the star light. You can see satellites and meteors all night too.
I had a couple of my chickens die and it was probably stress. Just found them in the coop this morning and they were not moving. I know it sounds stupid but I cried about it and it just made me really sad to lose some of my little chicks we raised.

Hera, having sister wives makes this all so much easier! I can't imagine doing this alone with Patty and Laura. The best part is being able to have someone else watch them sometimes so I can take a nap and I totally appreciate this!

New place

We're in the new place and the house is really nicer than what we had at home. I'm not going to say a lot about it because I have promised to be more private now but I will say it is not in California, we are a long way from the closest big city, our closest neighbor is a couple miles from here, and we have a lot more land but most of it is not anything we can really use. It's just nice to have a lot of room.
Patty and Laura are doing fine and gaining weight and things are doing good with me too. The rest of the family is doing really good too. We went to church here yesterday and it was different to be with a new pastor but nice to get to meet so many new people. There are more big families here than in California and it is kind of nice and there are a lot of women my age here so I hope to make some new friends too.
One of the things that someone sent me was a certficate for Amazon so I could buy a book called Quiverfull and I ordered it and it showed up today and I will read it when I can. Thank you, Callie. (-:
I am still settleing in here and still need to unpack some things. The chickens did okay with the move but there are some of my girls with bloody wings from panicking in the trailer during the drive. They should be okay but right now only a few of them are laying so we had to buy eggs for the first time in a very long time.
Well, I was up and wanted to post this now that we got the internet connected. It is 1:32am here and the one hour difference here is not bugging most of us but it does bother me a little.

I just got Patty to go to sleep and wanted to write a little before going to bed. This has been a major change in life having Patty and Laura. Getting to be around Emily so much helped me get ready but it is different when the babies are yours. You can't EVER ignore it when your baby cries even when you know someone else is going to take care of things for you it still makes you jump up and worry when you hear them cry. There is no sleeping when they cry and the thing with twins is if one of them cries then BOTH of them cry. I am SO thankful that I have help so someone else can take one of them when I have one in my arms. This would be insane to do this alone!

So much to write about!

We move a week from Friday. Or we start moving. I am going to drive Christie's car with the girls and Macy and we are towing a trailer and following Steve in his big truck. That is suppose to happen on Memorial Day Monday. Steve thinks we should be okay driving that day and says we should make Salt Lake City by the end of the day and we are staying there for the night before going to the new house.

I have never lived outside of California so this will be so new and with a new family too. I could write a million words about all the the stuff on my mind with this and still have more to say. I am really excited but sad to go too because it seems so permanent all the changes anymore.

It will be nice for my babies to grow up in a place with no crowds and clean air and no ugly city to look at all the time. It will be cool for them to get to play in the snow when it happens and I am looking forward to that too! You don't get snow here ever and you only get to see it up in the mountains.

It is now nine days since my little girls were born and I can harldy believe so much time has gone by already! Patricia and Laura are doing really well and you can already see a lot of difference with them. Laura is happy and noisey and Patricia is more quiet. Both of them look me in the eye when they look at me and it is just so it makes your heart just get all soft and fuzzy!
With the two of them I am pretty busy all the time and have no time for anything else so I can tell I won't be on here a lot for a while.

Thank you to everyone for the nice thoughts and the gifts but please don't send any more gifts, okay? It is really nice but I didn't start writing this to get anything from anyone. We have everything we need and more so if you want to help someone else with a gift that is what I would really want! (-:

I had a couple days where I was kind of sick and was sleeping an awful lot and I was told this can be normal. Supposed to be that I am just exhausted and needed time to sleep. I feel better now but it was pretty weird when it was happening.

I am doing situps in the morning to help get my tummy back in shape and Christie is being my coach and helping! She says the sooner I get back in shape the easier it is. She says if I wait then it can be kind of hard to lose the baby fat and all. I'm not too bad I weigh 18 pounds more than I did before the babies so it should not be too hard to get back to normal.

At 3:15 am on Thursday morning Laura Ellen came into the world at 6 pounds 4 ounces and 17 inches with red hair! At 3:34 am Patricia May came into the world at 5 pounds 9 ounces and 16 inches and with dark brown hair like her daddy!

I am a very, very happy mom! I'm a mom!!!

That is all I can do right now but will try to write more maybe this weekend!

I hope all of you are as happy as I am right this moment!

Edit on Saturday morning:

The labor started over last weekend and I didn't know that back pain meant you were in labor! I thought it was just my back really hurting from carrying the babies.

Wednesday around 8pm it was time to go to the hospital and the nurse had me walk around saying that would help. Christie and Shari were with me the whole time and Steve got there around 11pm because he had to get back from business in LA.

Things got pretty intense around 2:30am and the OB asked me if I wanted the epidural and I said no. She said the babies were not so big that she expected them to cause me a lot of pain or anything so we just went ahead like that. When Laura started to come out it went pretty fast and I will say it hurt like hell!

She crowned around 3:13 according to Christie and once I opened up enough for her she came right out. She has these beautiful blue eyes I hope she keeps and she is a red head so I bet she will be so pretty! No one is really sure where the red hair came from and that has been a big joke here.

About 15 minutes later Patricia crowned and Christie says she just came out in like less than a minute. I guess I was already opened up for her so that was good. I hate to say I don't remember a lot with Patricia being born and I was all :huh: when they were saying congratulations to me.

I stayed in the hospital until Friday afternoon and all three of us were okay so they let us go home and it was pretty crazy having two babies on their first ride in a car! They were fussy and then the car started moving and both of them went to sleep and were so beautiful! I have both of them in the nursery next to my room and I am leaving the door open all the time. I decided there is nothing that sounds as wonderful as my babies crying.

Okay it is Saturday morning now around 7:30 and I have the girls in their basinettes upstairs with Christie and Macy and it is time to get back up there.

I have been having contractions now and then this week and the OB says I should expect to have the babies this week. She says the babies should be fine. I have my bag all packed to go and will probably stay in the hospital for at least one night if we can do a normal birth. I really do not want to do a c-section. Been learning about epeseotomys and epidurals and will probably do the epeseotomy but I don't think I want to be numb during the birth. The OB says I can change my mind if I want to and that is good.

This is all new to me and I know I make some of you LOL, but it is new to me. The worst thing in the last few months is having to pee ALL THE TIME. It will be nice to be able to go most of the day without peeing again!

I'll post something when I can about the babies but it might be a while.

For my friends who pray I want to ask for prayer for a friend. His wife is named Debra and she has this disease that has her in pain all the time. The name of the disease is four words long and I did not write it down but the important part is she really needs prayer for healing. Thank you!

New home!

It isn't done yet but our family has an accepted offer on a new place in another state so we will be leaving California. I've never lived anywhere else so this is another big change for me. My mom is not so happy that I will be about 1,000 miles away but maybe she will come to visit. The new place has a lot more land around it. We're going to have 1600 acres. About 90 acres is flat and can be farmed or used for pasture and the rest is some trees and hills and it is rocky but the best part of that is we will have a lot more privacy.
I don't think I said what started this and that was we had to put a water meter on our well because of some state law about water meters that the people in Los Angeles wanted. Steve says that when they bought this house and all the water rights were part of it and the local water people say that doesn't matter we still have to pay for the water even though we already paid for it. So Steve said that was enough of California and then Christie says that our cost to move we will get back in what we don't have to pay in state income tax next year because we will be in a state that has no income tax and right now California is almost ten percent for us.
The house we are moving in to is a log cabin kind of place and it is only five years old. The people there lost it to a bank and so it got sold.

The babies are fine. They are pretty quiet the last day or so and I have been getting some sleep which is really nice. When we move I am going to be at a friends house near where we live until the moving is done so I can be with the babies and all. We will be moving starting May 28 so I will be not posting on here for a week or two until we get moved in and all.

I have 128 chickens now. They are doing pretty good. I had a lot of chicks and some of them I would just find dead and that is supposed to be okay but I cried like crazy the first time I found a dead chick. I'm not much of a farmer. We will be putting them in their trailer and towing that to the new place with the truck and Steve says they should be fine.

Moving away means I am not going to finish cooking school like I wanted but the school says I can use their online stuff to finish online so I might start that pretty soon.

It's about 9am and time to get going so everyone have a Happy Friday!

We had a different Pastor today and I asked him about the poly thing and what he thought of it and he said that when the church started this was one of the scriptures they said they used to deal with the problems they had. Since there were so many single women with kids they decided that the fathers and boyfriends who ran away were brothers in Christ so the remaining men had a responsibility to take care of the women and their children.

So then I asked about why they let in people like me and the Pastor said that the church won't let in women who have good families and who are doing well. They open up for women who really need a strong refuge he said. I think that meant women who are messed up or have been hurt and that means me. That makes some sense.

I have not been on here in a while and some of that is because I don't have my own computer anymore because of a virus so I use Christies when she isn't here. The other part is that it is just cold down here in the basement so it is not a lot of fun to be here and write unless I turn on the heat and then I really don't want to be here that long so I usually talk myself out of using the puter.

The OB says my due date is May 22 but that anytime after May 1 would be okay. That would be okay with me! This is getting old. My back hurts, my boobs hurt, my feet hurt, my ankles look like sausages, and I don't think I want to see my maternity dresses for a long time.

It's also official that we are moving. Steve and Christie found a place in another state near one of the other church groups and we will be moving the week of Memorial Day when escrow closes. I will not be posting where we are moving but if you are on my IM I might tell you. It's not a big deal but I have a stalker I want to leave behind.

I'd write more but it is cold and rainy outside and colder down here so I am gone!

Why do so many Canadians care about poly in America? It seems like most of the reporters who write to me are from Canada. Since I don't feel like writing a lot right now I thought I would post this email I got today and maybe someone of you can help this guy? That would be nice.:

I work for Cineflix Productions, a television production company with offices in London, New York and Toronto. We are currently developing a show about polygamy in the US, and we would like to interview you and your family as part of our research. This would be for our internal use only, and would not be broadcast or used commercially in any way; at this stage we’re trying to determine who in the polygamous community might be willing to be interviewed at a later date as part of the series.

The show concept is not sensationalistic and we are taking a non-sectarian approach—we are interested in a wide range of communities, not just FLDS-affiliated families. An increasing number of Americans of all backgrounds, both secular and religious, are ‘coming out’ as polygamous and/or polyamorous, and this is what we want to document.

Happy Friday!

Things are going good. The last trip to the OB was all good news and she said May 22 is still looking about right for a due date but that I need to start being ready by around the end of April just in case the babies come early. The church ladies did a baby shower for me on Wednesday night and that was a lot of fun! I got so many baby towels it got to be funny! I must have like over 100 baby towels!

Steve and I had our first anniversary and he bought me a nice necklace and that was really nice but I wish I had more time with him. He is busy finishing a construction job so he is not home a lot right now and when this job is done he has another one to start on so we won't be seeing a lot of him until the winter.

Christie is way busy on doing her tax work and that is why I can't get to the computer so much. I used to be up late a lot but anymore I am just sleeping when the babies cry so Macy and Lauren took over a lot of taking care of Eric and Emily when Christie can't do it. I am sleeping a LOT right now and everyone says it is normal and okay but I feel kind of lazy.

We might be moving this summer. Steve and Christie are going to take a trip in April to go see some places and if it all works out we will try to sell this place and move there. I never lived anywhere else but California so this will be something really new to me. The reason for it is California is getting really crazy with taxes and they have some global warming law that will make Steve have to replace a LOT of construction stuff like bulldozers and graders amd trucks and it will be cheaper to just start business in another state instead of trying to stay here so it makes sense. The other thing is that we can get over 1,000 acres and a house for what we can have 20 acres and a house here. It will mean more privacy for us and that is a good thing.

I made scones for breakfast this morning and that was the first cooking I wanted to do in a while. We had whipped cream and lingonberry jam and coffee and it was really nice. It was our first day of the year to sit outside for breakfast and it was really nice. It is about 80 outside right now and it is just crazy how California goes right from winter to summer in one week! A week ago it was snowing not far from here and now it is hot out!

One of the ladies who is in the church and use to be Jewish is going to come to our house to do a Pass Over sader on Tuesday in two weeks (the 30th I think?) and it will be cool to do this. I don't know a lot about Jewish people and the way they worship so I am thinking it will be kind of fun. We got this really big plate for the sader and I want to hang it up in my room after we are adone because it is so pretty. My part is I will be making horseradish, cracker bread, and pineapple coogel for the dinner. I need to find a recipe for the coogel and if anyone has one I would love to have it!

Everyone is doing really good here and I guess that is all I can say right now.

Hi, I haven't been on here in a while mostly because there are a lot of other things for me to do anymore instead of being on the computer. I had to stop going to school last month because it is just getting too hard to stand up and driving is not a lot of fun either. The school says I can come back to finish when I want to but that might not happen now because my family is talking about moving out of California.
Prices are really good right now in some other places so we can sell here and get something really great somewhere else. California has been my home all my life so this would be the first time for me to live outside of California and it might be nice so I am okay with trying it.
With me home now I am back to taking care of Emily and Eric most of the time and that is fun.
Macy and everyone else are doing fine and things are really quiet.

I'm not really in the mood to write much right now but just wanted to say what I said.

A nice letter in my email

I got a very nice letter in my email from someone who really knows all the things I write even on another web site I got to sometimes. It really is amazing that anyone cares that much about what I write! Anyhow, she noticed that I am not always making sense in some things and someone else said that too and I accidentally deleted their comment. Sorry to whoever that was!
But what happens is I usually get on here late at night which is about the only time I have on the computer anymore and I just write stuff. I really need to read it before I post it but I don't. Someone suggested I need to let someone else proofread and edit my stuff and maybe I need to start doing that. Anyway I sometimes mix things up as I write them but I really do mean to write them down the right way. I'm doing this a lot more lately and I think it is because I am not sleeping so good right now so it will probably happen again. Sorry in advance.

I didn't think pedialyte would be a big deal but it was. The doctor told me to drink pedialyte or some gatoraid and we have a lot of pedialyte at home with the babies so I just had pedialyte. I felt better after that so it seems like good advice to drink that if you have diarrhea.

I'm still hoping one of the Muslim people who reads this can say something about hospitality and how you're not supposed to accept hospitality from someone if you don't like them. Anyone?

School is still going good. My grades are good and I am learning a lot and it is still a lot of fun. I am probably going to skip the last set of classes and take them after the babies come. The school said it is okay for me to do this and that will help because it is getting harder to stand up for a long time anymore.

I saw 'Avatar' last Friday at the Imax theater in Sacramento. It was pretty amazing! Science fiction is not really something I like but this was cool just for being so beautiful at least until the shooting started. This was the first time I was out to see a movie since before I moved here and it was a lot of fun. I went with two of my friends and it was just nice to be with them again.

I found out why Canadians are so interested in non-Mormon polgamy and it is because they have a big deal going on up there with a Mormon group (the article says they are FLDS but if it is wrong don't blame me okay?) and they have a lot of non-Mormon people who want to see polygamy legalized up there. I got this gay rights article in my email and it makes me wonder if poly could be legalized here if Canada does it?

I just checked in to update comments and the two worst and nastiest and most evil things were waiting for me written by Demoiselle. I'm not going to put them on here because that kind of thing has no place here and that's not what I am writing about.

What I am writing about are these people like Demoiselle who come on here and say the most evil things and they go on other peoples blogs and do the same thing to them. But do they have a blog where someone like myself could tell them how evil they are? No they don't. I think that is cowardly to attack people for what they write and then you don't have a blog of your own where you can be judged the same way you judge everyone else.

Home sick

This was my worst night ever. I was in the bathroom all night and I am wondering if I ate something bad or what? Went to the OB this morning and she had me drink a quart of pedialyte and told me to stay home and go to bed. That is where I am going in a few minutes. She said it is not a flu but just something that should go away soon but I need to be careful that I don't pass out or anything.

Has anyone seen this? The front page is about polygamy with the FLDS. I was given this to read by a friend of mine and now I can see why so many people ask if we are FLDS. There is so much in common that it is crazy.

Steve told me that the church borrowed a lot from the Mormons on how to do polygamy since they were doing it for a long time and he says a lot of it makes sense. Some of the the things that we do are like putting wives with other families sometimes but it is not without their saying something about it. Macy could have said no to being with us if she wanted. We do not have any prophets and the pastors are prohibited from doing a lot of things so they don't have too much power.

The thing that I saw in the magazine that was so us was how each wife has something she does that makes her special in the family and that is the same with us. We are all supposed to do something special so we have a special place in the family. Maybe that helps with the jealousy problem because I don't know of too much jealousy.

One thing we don't do is to get the boys to leave. Boys usually got to college or something and then they can stay in the church or leave if they want and no one has ever said anything about any boys having to leave.

The dresses are not required but everyone (women) wears dresses for church and some families do it at home too. Shari agreed to stop requiring this and I am grateful for that because working in the yard in a dress is not always easy and in the summer I don't want to wear a dress all the time. We just wear regular dresses and not prarie dresses. The magazine did not say why prarie dresses are required with the FLDS. Anyone know why they can't just wear plain old modest dresses?

We allow televisions but computers and cell phones are sort of shunned. I still don't understand that but it is nice to not have the TV on all the time and I don't think the FLDS are really missing anything by not having TV. Maybe that is a good idea not to have TV.

I found out that we also borrow from the Muslims. We have a rule about hospitality that you are not supposed to accept or give hospitality with someone you don't like because it is a kind of a lie. That makes a lot of sense to me. And we are also expected to protect anyone we have in our house as a guest. For us that means if someone visits and gets sick we take care of them until they are well and we don't just send them home or if their car breaks down at our house we help them and don't just call the tow truck. That makes sense too.

Time for school. Go look at that magazine! It is a good story and it looks like it is really fair to the FLDS.

I guess so far it isn't a big deal because Macy fit in pretty good anyway. A lot of the time it is like nothing changed so it's easy to say she is fitting in.

I think so. We have some rooms that are being used for other things right now that can be made into bedrooms if we have to do that.

3.does Macy have a job or does she just help out with the kids and around the house?

Macy helps around the house and that is what she wants to do.

4. have you picked names for your babies yet?

I am naming one of them Patricia for Shari's mom and the other I don't know yet. I am thinking maybe Renee or Leah but I am not sure yet.

5.how do your church feel about non-religous poly people

I don't really ever hear much said about non-religious poly people. I know there are a lot more of them around than there are religious poly people and no one seems to care about them. People just seem to get all upset if you're poly and religious but if you are not religious and you want to be poly it seems like that is okay.

I don't know. Peter and Lisa left the church after they moved away and I don't know any more than that.

1. You've talked about how your church works by meeting at various members' houses, but do you have any type of daily worship or instructional program for the children led by Steve or the wives?

We have a prayer time at dinner and then every Friday night we have family time and we will watch a movie or something and sometimes we will talk about the Bible after that. It's not like being religious is all we do. Mostly it is just regular stuff going on like anyone else would have going on.

2. Do you plan to send them to public school or home-school?

I want to home-school just like Shari did with her girls. If I can pay for it it would be nice to have them go to a private or Christian high school when the time comes.

3. Is Steve more of a "head of the household" type, or is your family more egalitarian? How would you describe his leadership (or just what kind of person he is) in the home to the wives and the children?

In most things Steve is in charge but then in some things he isn't. He is supposed to make decisions about a lot of things but then when it is really big then everyone has to agree to it like adding a wife or moving somewhere else. Mostly we all go along with him because he makes good decisions and not just because he is the man.

First, the picture I posted broke a promise that I made that I was not going to post personal pictures on here or share them with anyone anymore. I got in a TON of trouble for that at home.

What happened is Kaiser has a website you can log on to your account and see this stuff on and I was bugging someone to help me with it. She just pulled a picture off the web to make me shut up and she said "That's an ultrasound picture." She never said it was mine but I thought it was. I was totally not supposed to post it but I did and I also sent it in email to my mom.

Second, I put my family in trouble because I trusted somoene on Yahoo and told them more than I should have. So we had a reporter from Canada contact Steve at his work and she also talked to Pastor Jeff. I got in tons more trouble for that and for a few days I really expected to be kicked out and I am very happy that I am not being kicked out. The reporter interviewed some people from the church but not me and there might be a story on her news program. I won't be able to tell anyone if the story is about us.

Third, I found out that someone I kind of know on here by one name is someone I know in real life by another name and that has been weird. His posts won't be published on here anymore.

Fourth, I know a lot of you are upset with me about the picture thing and I am sorry. But everyone who wants me to prove anything I am sorry too because I never asked anyone for ANYTHING when I started this. It is just my diary of the way I see things and that is it. No one gets asked for money or anything and I totally will not take presents from anyone on here.

Fifth, my life is NOT perfect. Not all the things that happen go in here and not everything about my life before this is in here.

Anyone who wants to think I am fake is fine with me. I guess if all I post in here is the good stuff then that is fake anyway. I will try to be more honest in here in the future.

The one bit of news is Christie's home pregnancy test says she is pregnant. She is going to see the OB later to make sure. It would be so cool for her if she is!

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope that 2010 will be much better for all of us than 2009 was for so many people.

I think I had my best Christmas EVER this year! My mom came up to the house to have Christmas with us and she said she is really happy for me now. She says she can see why I'm happy with the life I chose here and she says she is looking forward to being a grandma. I think the part about the grandkids has a lot to do with my mom being more accepting. Shari said that her parents were not so happy about her marrying Steve but when she had Stephanie it all changed because they knew that if they didn't soften up they would not get to be around their grandchildren.

I'm about half-way with the babies and it is still a very big adjustment to me. The thing with the church wanting a wife to be pregnant makes a lot of sense to me now because once you're pregnant you really, really are going to be a part of the family and not leave. It is funny\weird that when you have the choice to leave it is not so big a deal but then once I was pregnant and that choice went away then it became a lot more important even if it wasn't something I wanted. It is settled now that I am a mother and a wife and I will always be one. It's peaceful to know this but I guess it is still a little scary to know that the rest of my life is all set now.

We had Stephanie and her husband to the house for Christmas and they were really happy. Stephanie is enjoying being a housewife and she is really having the best time being with her husband and I am really happy for her with that.

Christmas Eve was when Macy decided to take the next step with Steve and she is doing fine. It wasn't so hard for her because she had done these things before but it is a big commitment and she's like me not wanting to ever leave here but also being a little scared of the commitment.

Christie is doing good and is still looking forward to being a mom again and we're hoping she can do that maybe this year. Her busy time with taxes is already starting and she says she will be back at it on Monday and we won't see much of her until April.

My chickens are doing good but I lost one the Saturday after Christmas. I was out feeding them and this one chicken just fell over and was twitching and then she was gone just like that. The vet said it was probably just a seizure and not to worry but she is coming out to see the rest of the chickens on Monday just to check.

I have not been on here a lot lately just because having everyone around for the holidays has made me want to be with them. Next week I go back to school and then with my regular thing going on and everyone else busy I will probably be on here more.

It is a quiet day at the house. I'm here with the girls and everyone else is out for different reasons. It is kind of nice to just have some quiet time. Not a lot to tell you right now, things are fine with the babies and things are pretty quiet at home. Christmas is coming and I am very much looking forward to it! For Christmas Eve I am doing a red velvet cake and doing it up in a traditional Christmas theme. My mom says she will try to be here and that might be nice I hope.

I am not so sure I will be on here again the rest of the week so Merry Christmas to everyone!

Happy Sunday!

The weather here is rainy but at least it is warmer and we don't have any snow left in the yard. The heater is off in the chicken coop. Last week it was just so cold that I didn't want them to be cold so I had the heater on and the chickens all mostly stayed inside all day. Someone asked how many chickens I have now and I guess it is around 90 or so. I know there were some sick chickens that Steve took care of but all of the rest are doing fine.

I'm about four months along now. The babies are moving and I am starting to feel it. It's not like the easiest thing to notice but I do feel it sometimes and it is just weird to feel something moving inside me. I've had a couple nosebleeds and the OB says this is normal and okay but to use a sinus rinse to keep things moist. The morning sickness is totally gone, my boobs are not sore anymore, but now my feet hurt especially if I am standing up a lot. It is easier than it was a couple weeks ago. I'm also not as emotional and that is good news for everyone!

Macy is doing fine. She has a blog she does for her friends and she also does Facebook and MySpace but won't be making any of it public like I did. Don't bother asking me about it because the answer is already no. (-:

Steve landed a big contract for construction and this was really good news. He is off right now because of the weather but did not have much set for next year and how he does. The one problem is the job will be about 200 miles away so he will be staying down there a lot and then coming back when he can. This will go on for almost all next year.

Christie and Shari are doing a lot of baking right now. We had put up a lot of frozen berries in the summer and fall and now they are coming out to be made into pies. I'm helping some with the pie crusts but mostly I just stay out of the way because Shari and Christie really have this down like a pie factory.

Stephanie (Stevie) and her husband are doing really good and we had them over last night for dinner. After dinner the men went out to the barn to do something and Stevie told us about things. She's really happy and this is what she wanted in a very big way. She is looking forward to being a mom and is really happy for me having the twins.

School is going along well. We start a new series of classes tomorrow and that will be fun. I have to pick up some new cook ware at school tomorrow and I also get more knives for the new classes. I am seriously loving the knives! It is so cool to have a knife so sharp you just let it rest on meat and pull it across and you feel it cut. I never really cared before how sharp a knife was but now I am all about it. I got the whetstone out at home to sharpen all our kitchen knives and it was kind of fun to see the difference with each knife.

My morning class this time around is cake decorating and it will be a lot of fun. Each week we have to do a new cake for our project and we have to explain all of what we do in front of the class. The best part is then we get to take the cake home! Yay!

LOL speaking of cake and yummy things I am up almost 15 pounds. I don't think I will be wearing a bikini at the beach anytime soon!

Time to go. We are going to a Christmas concert in Vallejo where one of the families in our church is singing in a choir with their other church (they do both churches). It will be fun and we are going in two cars and I am going to some of the driving so that will be cool.

It was 21 here this morning and that is really cold! I have the heater on for the chickens and we have the fireplace going in the house along with the pellet stove and it is now 10:16 and it is still just about 60 in the house. This morning was my first serious experience with morning sickness and it was not a lot of fun. It was time to stay home from school and since it is so cold out it was not a hard decision to stay home and not go out.
The babies are doing fine and I am doing fine too. I mostly wear sweats any more at home because they are more comfortable than my other pants. I don't know if I put this on here but a while back Shari said it was okay not to have to wear dresses all the time and we've been really enjoying not doing that all the time.

On Sunday at the church service Steve and Macy got married. I know I have not even posted much about them lately just because I was tired of the drama from a lot of people who know who they are.

Macy married Steve because she really wants to be a part of our family and being married means she can stay here now. She is still waiting before the two of them do anything romantic and that is her choice and it is up to her when that might happen. She says it will probably be next year sometime but she won't say when or anything. I'm very happy that she is staying because I love her and would miss her a lot if she left.

A question from my email friends was how many wives will the church allow and the answer is four. I had thought there was a Bible reason for this but Pastor Jeff says it is just that after four wives a man is showing off his wealth and it is considered kind of rude and then it can make people jealous who can't afford a bigger family so it makes sense. More than four sister wives would be kind of a crowd in the house too. Macy has been in Stephanie's old room anyway so it is not like we have to move people around for this.

One of my email friends needs your prayers for his family and it would be really great if people would pray for him and his family. They are having a hard time right now.

School is going really well. We're working on fish right now and learning how to filet and scale and all sorts of things. The best thing I am liking so far with fish is baking halibut. Grilled halibut is good too but baking it makes it come out so moist and it just falls apart. Fish was never a big deal to me before but now I am starting to like it now that we are using fresh fish. Fish to me growing up was always fish sticks and those are made from pollock which is a kind of really cheap fish that does not have a lot of flavor. Salmon is good but the flavor with halibut is more consistent.

Christmas is going to be really special here. We have a big tree in the foyer and it looks so cool! We did it in mostly red and silver for a theme and then we have red and white lights outside. Stephanie and her husband will be having Christmas here and Christie's mom is coming, one of Steve's brothers will be here and Shari says a couple of her sisters will be here too. It will be a bunch of us sharing beds for a few days and that will be nice too. Only bad part is sharing bathrooms!

We had five inches of snow yesterday and that was a big surprise because it does not always snow here. There is still enough on the ground to make it really pretty out but yesterday was really cool.

One of the people who was being a jerk did make me think about what I get from writing this and since it is Thanksgiving on Thursday I am thankful for the friends I have met on here.

Just taking a moment from my home work. Thank you to everyone who had the nice comments. I really appreciate that! Sorry I am not so good at keeping everything straight its not like I ever said I was a genius or anything.

So yeah the OB said that I might have to have the babies early and she also said I might have to do a c-section but I am hoping to do it the normal way. I won't be having them at home but will go to the hospital when the time comes. She also says I have to think about leaving school before school is done and the school says I can do that and take the classes I miss sometime in the next two years if I want so that is pretty cool.

Three months

It is on again with people getting all picky about what I say. My OB said I was due in late May or early June and that is still what she says. She just never said how far along I was and I had a lot of reasons to think that September 11th was the day I got pregnant but I was wrong. I got pregnant in August and did not even notice until the end of September. It is actually been kind of upsetting to me that I was pregnant for a month and did not know.

My friend Fay asked me last night if I was losing interest in this blog and I said I was because of the problems with some of the comments. This got started just because I wanted a place to write some things and it became more than that to some people. I don't take myself as seriously as some of you do! I hate to say it but if you want to call my blog confusing and all and then go read my blog like one of those guys who lives for Star Trek that is up to you. I have a life. You should too and you should know this is just a blog and it is not like what I say makes any difference in the world.

There are things I would really like to write right now but I guess it won't be on here because it might get twisted around to mean something else.

Whatever I guess.

I went to the OB yesterday and IT'S TWINS!!!!!!!!

She says I am now about 14 weeks with twin girls! Everything is fine and she did a blood test and says everything is fine there too. She also said part of why I show so much is just because thin people show a lot when they get pregnant. I am now going to be going in every two weeks to be checked to make sure everything is good. I can't even begin to tell you how exciting and scary this is! Shari said that I will get to give birth a second time without having the second pregnancy! OMG THAT is scary!

Time for me to go to school but I wanted to get this out here. I will try to post the ultrasound picture later on if we can get the scanner to work.

It's almost midnight and I am up. Emmy was fussing and I had her tonight so Steve and Christie could work on having another baby. Shari has me going in to see the OB on Monday because she is worried about my baby and says that I am showing too much too soon for just two months. She had the same thing and is worried I might have toxemia starting. I feel fine so I am not so sure but will go to the OB anyway.

A good friend of mine has me worried too so I am doing some praying for her.

I wish I knew what else to say right now but that's it. And I am sorry I don't have a happy thing to say to close my post.

Almost two months

I'm almost two months along and it is kind of nice. The best part of being pregnant is it put an end to all my anxiety about getting pregnant or not. It's all decided now and it's easy to just relax and enjoy who I am and my family and the idea of being a mom soon. I still have not really had any morning sickness. I've felt yucky a few times but was never so bad I was going to puke or so bad I was not going to eat!
Sex is a lot better. Before it was always worrying about what could happen and now that it happened it's really easy to just enjoy being with Steve. I noticed he is a lot more relaxed about being with me now and Christie says she had the same experience with him. Once he got her pregnant he was pretty comfortable with the idea that she was serious about staying with the family and I guess the same goes for me too.

One of my friends online is getting involved with a poly family but not in my church. They are more like their own thing. It makes me happy that she's found a great family because she is a great person and the only thing I am sad about is it would have been noce to have her be a 4th in our family. Back when she was open to that idea Shari was dead set that 3 was enough and then Macy came along and now Shari is considering letting Macy join us sometime. Macy says God's timing is up to God and not to us so don't worry about the 'what if' things because we don't control them. If I had my way Steve would probably have to marry all my friends! I guess I just love having a lot of people around anymore.

School is going really good. On Friday I had my exams and got A's on both of them and it was not easy. I have to study a lot and I've been cooking a lot more at home because one of my classes was on preparing meats and I had to do an original recipe. I did pork loin cutlets stuffed with blue cheese and then baked with lingonberry sauce on them to help keep them moist. They came out really great and got me my A.

Christie and Steve are trying for another baby and she is pretty happy most days. It's so funny you can tell when a woman has had a great sex night once you know what you are looking for. One of the girls in my class came in all smiley one day and I asked her if she was happy from sex and she was blown away that I could tell. I'm also seeing other pregnant women because it seems we all do a lot of the same things like always holding our tummy. It's weird you just can't stop thinking about the baby and you always want to hold yourself there.

One thing that came up is my blog is being mentioned by people who are following the FLDS trial and it is been mentioned a few times. I don't get why these people are so interested in what someone else is doing with their life? Why is it so important to them that poly people be put in jail? How are we a threat to them I wonder?

The elections this week were sort of funny to me. Before the election the reporters were saying how this was so important because it would say what people thought of Obama and then after the election the same reporters were saying it didn't really matter. I am thinking that those elections will mean the end of Obama's health care plan and that he won't talk about gays in the military anymore.

I am wondering if the country saying no to these things will mean that people will get more serious about going after poly people? I don't know but it does worry me a little.

Where have I been?

I haven't been on here in a while because I have had some serious studying to do and I also have been spending more time with my family than on the computer.

The best thing that happened was I got to go with Steve to do a bid in Monterey on the 16th and we stayed the weekend. It was the first time we got to go do a trip together and we had a wonderful time! We drove through San Francisco because Steve had to pick up some plans and then we stopped in Moss Landing and had lunch. The food was really good but the fried stuff made me kind of sick and I don't think I will eat so much fried stuff anymore.
We stayed in Pacific Grove at a really romantic B&B and it was just great. Steve did his business stuff on the 16th so we had the weekend to ourselves and on Saturday I saw the Monterey Bay Aquarium with him and that was pretty cool. I had never seen a white shark before and the otters were really cute! On Sunday Steve played golf and I walked around Carmel for a while. It is a cute town but everything is soooooo expensive! This one place had a sweater that cost $650!!! The picture up on the top of this page is from Pacific Grove and I took it with Steve's nice work camera. I think that was on the Saturday. It was a little hard to come home after being just me and him for the weekend but it was nice to get back to everyone too but it was even nicer to have a romantic time with Steve.

Stevie (Stephanie) is doing good and this last Saturday we were over to help paint and to hang curtains. We had a nice time and Stevie made lunch for everyone. She is seriously enjoying being married and she really loves her husband. It is kind of cute to see her get all mushy with him. (-:

Macy is really doing well and is just being a part of the family. Lauren is teaching Macy to ride the horses and Macy is liking it a lot. Shari is teaching Macy how to quilt and the two of them are becoming really good friends.

School is going good for me but we are doing chemistry right now and that has made me not be on here because I just don't have the time. I didn't think cooking school would be so hard but it is.

The baby is doing pretty good but I am starting to feel a little icky every now and then. Like in Moss Landing with the fried food. It tasted really good but after an hour I was feeling not so good. Some mornings are worse than others but it is still not as bad as what some people tell me about. The worst thing right now is my boobs are sore about all the time and Christie says she had the same thing so it is just normal I guess.

The best news is we have not had any drama lately so it has been just really peaceful.

Before I forget, a local newspaper had a story about some people not far from here who are in a 'Quiver full' church and they have babies all the time because of a verse in the Bible that talks about men having sons. Steve says we are not like that because that church is 100% patriarchal and he says we are a lot more about men having responsibilities and obligations than about men being the king of their house. Basically we do a lot of the same things those people do but not for the same reasons.

It is time for me to get going to school and I really wish I could just stay home and be on chat with a lot of you! I really miss all of you! )-:

Comments and stuff

Because of the bad weather yesterday my morning class got cancelled so here I am.

That was a lot of comments yesterday and I will try to get to them all and I am sorry if I miss any, okay?

Donald asked who was the head of our church and I did laugh! Pastor Jeff does a lot to make sure that no one thinks he is in charge or anything. He says his job is mostly helping people who need and ask for help and the rest of the time he tries to mind his own business. Being a pastor is a part time job for him and he has another job to do which is nothing to do with church. I asked Steve about all this once and he said not a lot changes in the church so it doesn't need a bunch of committees and all and then each of the three big congregations make up their own ideas on finances for the church funds. Our congregation has enough money put aside to take care of everyone in the church for about a year and Christie told me once that the goal is to have enough money to buy everyone a new home if they need it. Eventually they want the fund to be able to pay everyone some money every month to help them out.

Steady mentioned that the church controls the lives of the members and that is true that it does. But I don't think that is a bad thing and I don't think the kind of things the church controls makes it a cult because the church wants you to do things to make your life better and not to do things to do anything for the church. Like when a couple gets married the church wants them to be free of debt except for a mortgage on a house and then you have to have a house to get married. They don't want you having kids in an apartment and then taking more time to get a house. Then when a couple wants a second wife they have to be totally debt free and most of the families in our church are couples only because of this. Steve, Shari, and Christie were able to do this because when they sold their homes they had enough to put it together to buy this place and make it debt free. I asked Pastor Jeff about this once and he said they do this to make sure that money is not a reason for any family problems.
The marrying fast thing is done with second wives and third wives. They mostly do this to sort out the serious people from the people who are not serious. Like when I came here it was pretty clear that if I stayed I was expected to be married to Steve or go home in a month so I didn't cause any trouble in the house. I mean you can cause trouble just by being there and not being married. Imagine a family where they basically have a second or third wife who refuses to act like a wife and just her being there can cause trouble. So if you want to do this you do it. Like jumping out of an airplane you don't put on a parachute and then fly up in a plane and then stand in the door and look at the view? If you do all that you have to do the rest of it or go home.
You have to be married after about a month if you want to do this but they do let you put off your wedding night for a while if you want. I wanted to have a real wedding night so I went ahead and did that and I will say now if I was doing it over again I would have waited a while. But that was my choice to do it right away.

Fallen Star asked about Macy and the rules don't apply to her because she is not here to get married to Steve. She is here to get her head together and have some peace and she is doing that. She and Steve keep a lot of distance and also Shari does not want a 4th wife. I am starting to really like having Macy here and would like her to stay but that is just me being selfish and I have to think that other people have to have a say in this too and I need to respect them.

CM asked about the money and property things in the church. Basically everyone has an equal share in the money and property of their family and if they decide to leave they get to have that share to get them started again some where else. People who leave are not forbidden to visit or have friends here and they get to take what is theirs when they go and that is fair. If you don't like this then no one wants to force you to stay and you will find that a lot of people will come help you leave if that is what it means to make you happy. They really are a lot of great people!
About the children I noticed right away that most of the kids will go to college and then start lives away from the church and a lot of them end up in other churches and no one bugs them about it. Like Stephanie got married and is staying in the church but her sister Lauren seriously wants to be a doctor and we are planning on that for her and it means she will be gone to medical school and all for like 12 years and she will probably not live like this.
I LOL'd on the thing about talking about church doctrine! We do it all the time! We don't really have some serious set of rules that says you have to do more than just believe in Jesus really. The big rules are about making sure you take care of your family and the stuff about what you believe is mostly up to you and we talk about it a lot. Christie told me she asked Pastor Jeff about 'organized religion' one time and he laughed and asked her to tell him when she found one because everyone in any real religion has to have their own ideas or then what they believe is not true in their heart. Like we have no rules about evolution. You can think what you want about it and people argue about it but no one gets kicked out of the church if they say the earth is billions of years old and not just a few thousand years old.
Pastor Jeff told me before I got married that the way we live is a life that leads us to God but that discovering and accepting God is something everyone has to do on their own. So there are big rules about how we live but not a lot of rules about how we believe.

Una mentioned the secrecy but that is to protect us really. When I first came here I made the mistake of sharing too much information to someone and ended up with a stalker coming here to the house to try to "rescue" me. It was pretty scary and since then I am very careful not to say too much so we don't have to worry about that.

Sort of on that topic is I get a LOT of people wanting to come visit and take pictures or do documentaries and we even had a TV network want to do a reality show on us and the answer is always no. The sheriff's department up here knows about us and leaves us alone but if we made a big deal and went on TV we'd be daring some social worker to come here and take the kids away and investigate us and after what happened to the people in Texas we know to keep to ourselves. Maybe someday we can be less about the secrets but for right now that is how it has to be.

About Donalds last comment we don't have anyone ruling our church. It's basically three congregations with their own pastors and a few small congregations with lay leaders and then a separate finance committee that the pastors and lay leaders are not allowed to be on. The church started as a commune a long time ago and everyone I ever talk to says it is still like a commune in a lot of ways. The people in Oregon actually all live on the original commune and everyone else mostly lives in their own houses in different areas.

To end this I asked Christie about some of this as I was writing and she said we are not a cult. She says when you want to leave what cult has people come help you get your stuff together, helps you move out, helps you find a place, and then gives you money to help you get started? So I don't think this is a cult.

Rainy day

It is supposed to be a pretty bad day here for rain today and we already have some wind going on. It will be slow getting to school and I wish I was staying home. Steve is home today because the rain stopped his construction work and that makes me REALLY wish I was home.

Things are going pretty good. I'm a little sore in the boobs right now and that is supposed to be normal. No morning sickness so far and that is really good! Yay!

Macy is doing a lot better. It is hard to explain how she is doing better it is just something you kind of know if you know her.

I have to go real soon but I did want to ask a question. One of my friends mentioned someone thought my church was a cult. Is this something anyone else thinks? I am just curious because I can try to write about it if I need to.

Sorry I have not been on here a lot. There has been so much homework and then at home I have been spending a lot more time with my family than with my computer esp with the baby on the way. The part about the baby on the way is so cool!!!! Yesterday morning I sat in bed before I got up and just went WOW! that I have a whole another person inside me! I can't wait to meet him/her!

Thank you everyone for being so nice! Everyone here is being really nice too. On Sunday we had our church meeting and I got to announce that we have a baby on the way and it was like being a rock star! I really love the people in my church and my family and I have no doubt I made the right choice being here.

The OB wants to see me in December to do an ultrasound and probably find out if I am having a boy or a girl. A boy would be nice for Eric and Steve but a girl would be a lot of fun too. My baby will be what he or she wants to be and I will love her all the same.

School. The doctor says I will be due in late May or early June and school is supposed to finish in April so that won't be a problem.

I have to cut down on chores and am not supposed to lift anything more than ten pounds so I am trading some chores with the girls so I can still do things around here and help out and not just be a big pregnant balloon floating around the house.

Macy is doing really well. She is settling in and being a part of the family and that is a good thing for her to do that and get over stuff. She still is not staying with us permanently but it is nice to have her here for now.

My friend Erica who is not in my church but is also poly has met a great family and she visited with them and it worked out great! I am really, really happy for her because she is a great friend and a really sweet person! She deserves to be happy and she told me her visit with her potential family was the best! I am praying that it all works out for her.

I am sorry I have not been on here that much this last week but things are really busy and I was not able to get my computer to work. My stupid internet explorer was set to work offline and I did not know that. I thought my puter was broken and just gave up. Macy got on it and got it working no problem and that made me feel pretty blonde. :-/

For real! I found out last night after checking with a test. I was about a week overdue for my period so it was time to check and YAY!!! There is a little person inside me!!

My family is way happy about this and there were a lot of hugs and kisses last night after the test came out positive. Steve is off the hook happy and is not saying it but I know he is hoping for a boy. I am calling my mom today to tell her and that should be fun. I have a lot to do today but I wanted to get this posted here!

Sad news

My friend Macy has ended her marriage to Peter and Lisa and is living with us for now. That does NOT mean she will be a 4th wife in this house it just means she is staying here because we have room and because we care about her.
I seriously do not know everything that happened but I do know she was really upset by what happened and she was really happy to be moving in here. Pastor Jeff helped her move out so I know he supported her decision to leave so she must have had a good reason. Maybe she will tell me all about it some time but right now I am just happy to see her having some peace.
Shari told me she has seen it in the past where someone joins a family and then decides that they made a bad decision and decided to leave so this is not something all that new. It does make me see why people were really worried about me staying here. I guess you just don't know if it will work out until you try it.

School is going along just fine. I am doing a catering job with some friends on Saturday so that should be fun. It is a wedding at a country club. I wish I could say I was doing something really cool but all I will be doing is finishing plates before they are served and that just means adding garnish and sauce and cleaning the edges if they need it. It is still fun to do something different and to get to go to a country club.

It is officially fall now but it is still in the 100's here and it would be nice if the weather would cool down. It will be nice to have it cool in the house and the yard.

The chickens are doing great and are making enough eggs that the egg business is now making money! A organic slow food group buys my eggs for $3 a dozen and they buy any eggs I give them. It is pretty cool to think the chickens support themselves!

Hate to say but I have to go. It is really busy on the road with school back in and so I have to leave earlier anymore to get to school myself.

I think I remember reading that you first made contact with your married family online, correct? Could you say something about how you first started thinking about a plural family as a way of life, before you actually met your Steve-Shari-Christie family?

I did meet my family online. I had joined a poly family site and Christie was the first to send me a invitation to come visit and she was only 40 miles away so I did. I started thinking about having a baby first before I started thinking about poly and I guess I am not so into the idea of being a working mom so I wanted to be a stay at home mom. When the FLDS people got raided and I heard all about them and then saw them in interviews I decided I liked the idea of poly because it meant a woman was not alone in the house with her husband but she had friends built in to the deal and I started reading about it. I got my computer last Christmas and started looking up stuff on line and found some poly sites and now I am just active on one of them mostly because I don't have time anymore to do a lot on the web.

Six month anniversary!

Today makes six months of marriage for me! Wow! I'm half way to my first anniversary! Yay!

I don't have a lot of time before school so Molly had a question:

What do the girls call you and Christie, since you are not their biological mother? Do they still call you mom, or do they call you Megan? Do you think the younger children will call you mom when they grow up a little?

The older girls just call me Megan and Eric calls me 'Momma' but then he calls Christie and Shari 'Mommy'. That was something Christie noticed.

I could have had the older girls call me 'Ma'am' but it didn't feel right to me so I just said to call me Megan and it worked out just fine to me.

It's raining a little here today and they say thunderstorms will happen later. Yay! I am so happy to have a cool day finally. I ended up sleeping in late because it was so dark because of the clouds this morning. It was so nice.

School is going pretty good and so are my chickens. Lauren mostly took over taking care of my chickens for now because of school and that is a big help.

Stevie is one week into married life now and says she is loving it. She will be over for dinner with her husband tonight and it will be really nice to see them. We haven't seen them since they got back from their honeymoon trip so this will be nice.

One of my emails asked me if I was taking questions anymore and I guess I will. So if you have anything you want to know then go ahead and ask.

Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone is enjoying their day off! I know I am!

I will start with a comment from my last post:

Megan, I love that you're continuing your education and that you'll be able to help support your family as well as use your skills & interests. I'm wondering, will Stevie be going back to school (I'm assuming she hasn't graduated from high school yet)? And does she have any plans to develop her marketable skills outside the home?

I am doing cooking school mostly because I don't know how to cook and I want to be good at it for my family. Catering might be something I will do but I am not wanting to do any restaurant jobs.

Stevie has her home school diploma and not a GED. Her plan is to be a wife and a mom and to have a big family and to be there for them. She is pretty set on this and when I saw her at church yesterday she looked the happiest I have ever seen her so I am thinking this is a good thing for her. It's not like she didn't have a choice. Lauren is the middle girl in the family and she wants to be a doctor and she has the grades to do it and everyone will help support her when the time comes. We are not like some groups that raise girls to be poly and the girls all have choices and Stevie chose this and her husband is happy about it because that is what he wanted too. As long as they are happy I will be happy for them.

Here is an easy basic recipe I did for church yesterday and you just make it as big as you want for your family or party.

Fancy Mashed Potatoes

5 pounds potatoes, peeled and boiled until soft.
4 cups half and half
1/4 cup olive oil
8 cloves of garlic, minced
1 head of cabbage cut into 1/4 inch wide strips about 1/2 inch long
3 onions minced
1 teaspoon oregano
Salt to taste or use none at all.

Sautee the onions, oregano, and garlic in the olive oil at a medium heat for about 2 minutes until they just start to brown. Put them in a mixing bowl.

Boil the cabbage for 3-4 minutes and remove it from the water as soon as it is a little soft. Do not cook it until is completely soft. It needs to be a little crispy. You can boil the cabbage with rosemary or bay leaves but if you use bay leaves remove them from the cabbage when you are done boiling.

Mash the potatoes with the half and half and mix them until they are smooth. Now gently stir in the cabbage and onions & garlic.

If you want to be really cool use a cooking torch to lightly brown and crisp the top of the mashed potatoes after you put them on the plate. Sprinkle with melted butter.

This is really good with beef and salmon but if you serve it with pork or a white fish then use only 1 clove of garlic for every 5 pounds of potatoes so the flavor of the meat is not overpowered by the garlic.

The weather here is finally starting to cool off but they say we will have 100's again this week. Yuck. I am so tired of the heat! I really can't wait for some cool weather. We have this beautiful fire place and it will be nice to have everyone around the fireplace on a cold night.

Pastor Jeff gave a really great sermon yesterday on why the Bible doesn't have any new parts to it. I didn't know that the Old Testament was old when Jesus was born and that the Jews thought it was done back then. So no one added to the Old Testament and then Jesus came along and the New Testament is supposed to be limited to things that were written from the time of Jesus and anything written after his time is not included.

Something else I never thought of is that the New Testament might be about Jesus but nothing in it was written by Jesus. It is all other people who wrote about him who are in the New Testament and Pastor Jeff said this makes the New Testament unique among different holy books because Jesus never wrote about himself and let other people write things down as witnesses to what he did. After church I said to Pastor Jeff that Jesus probably wrote letters to his family and to the Apostles and would it upset things if a letter written by Jesus were found someday? He said it would be something really important to read a letter written by Jesus even if it were just a letter to his parents. I think it would be nice to know what Jesus thought about things and to see it in his own words.

It is a little quieter in the house without Stevie and all the excitement of the wedding being over. Shari is a little quiet and I think she misses Stevie a lot more than she is saying. Steve is being Steve and Saturday night said me and Christie have to get busy filling up Stevie's empty room. Christie is back to trying to have a baby and I am sure I wrote this before but it is making her a lot happier. She is back to being herself after losing the baby earlier this year and trying to have another baby is doing something good for her.

It is a really beautiful day today so I am going to go out and do some stuff in the garden. I hope you all have a nice day!

Wedding Day!

Just a quick note. Stevie's wedding went great! There were about 110 people and it was lots of fun. It started at 11am and was over at about 11:30 and then we had the reception here. It's 5pm now and most everyone is gone. Steve and Shari are out visiting with some friends still but everything is cleaned up and you would almost never know there was such a big deal here just a few hours ago.
