Six month anniversary!

Today makes six months of marriage for me! Wow! I'm half way to my first anniversary! Yay!

I don't have a lot of time before school so Molly had a question:

What do the girls call you and Christie, since you are not their biological mother? Do they still call you mom, or do they call you Megan? Do you think the younger children will call you mom when they grow up a little?

The older girls just call me Megan and Eric calls me 'Momma' but then he calls Christie and Shari 'Mommy'. That was something Christie noticed.

I could have had the older girls call me 'Ma'am' but it didn't feel right to me so I just said to call me Megan and it worked out just fine to me.

Any thing else?

  1. I'm new to your blog. I'm assuming Christie and Shari are your sister wives, and that you are all sealed. I believe that all of the children should call you each "Mom," because, in fact, you are.

  2. Megan,
You said above, "Any thing else?" I do have a question that has been on my mind since I started reading your blog. You've talked about your family of origin, what that experience was like, and your new found life, and how different these 2 stages feel. I think I remember reading that you first made contact with your married family online, correct? Could you say something about how you first started thinking about a plural family as a way of life, before you actually met your Steve-Shari-Christie family? Many thanks, I always enjoy reading your blog.

  3. I am with you Megan, I don't like the idea of too much formality either. Ma'am would just be wrong...

I am called by my first name and it is nice, I don't think it would be right to also be called Mum. My daughter doesn't even call me that! ;o))

  4. Congrats on your 6th month of marriage.

And a note on the what kids should call sisterwives. Just remember Kids will call people what they choose too. In my former study of Child Development, we learned that if you act like a mother to the child, you'll be called mommy. It gets abit harder with older children, but I'm sure that one day one of the older girls will slip and call you mom, cause your a mom to them. But as long as you don't mind them calling you Megan, then there's no problem there.
